Er, OK. I'll reply to this myself, for the benefit of anyone else having the same problem

Managed to fix it last night. There is a seting on the mk449c that lets you send MIDI received on the USB port through to instruments connected to its MIDI port. Its called 'USB to MIDI' or something similar ...

Follow actions not working

I have been trying out some of the ideas in this tutorial on follow actions to create drum fills:

http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=tutorials&sub=tips1104

He says:

First off, the Launch Quantization has been set to 1/8, allowing us to trigger the fills from within a bar, not just on the ...

So is the secret in switching midi channels?
Is that how you address different tracks in live?

(I mean, I know you can just select a knob onscreen in Live and then twiddle a knob on the controller to assign it, but I want to be able to switch between different sets of assignments on the go...)

midi controller multi-setups

Hello,
I have an Evolution mk-449c midi controller keyboard, with faders and knobs which I would like to use to control live. However, I'm not sure if its capable of doing what I want, or how to go about doing it.

What I want is this:

1. One setup where the fader control the volume faders on the ...

what i'd try, is to put your 16 bars reversed clips in the arranger, consolidate them so you'll have only one clip, and then play with the transpose enveloppe while being in re-pitch mode. and don't use the pencil tool to draw the enveloppe, so you'll have continuous change.

i think that should ...

Ah yes, that would work. thanks

Still, it seems odd that you can't do this without rendering the whole effect as a static sound file.

I can change the pitch of a clip if I warp it in 'beats' mode, why is this function disabled in 're-pitch' mode?

It just annoys me cos it seems like it should be ...

Well, I would try another way to do it. Load the sample in Simpler and modulate its pitch from the track. I guess that could work for at least one of the things you want to do.

cheers. Will try that tonight. It makes sense - i want to modulate the pitch and speed together in the old ...

Changing pitch and speed together

Hello.
I want to create quite a simple effect in Live 4 but can't see a way to do it.

I have a 1 bar drum loop, repeated over 16 bars in my arrangement, and I want to create the effect of spinning a record backwards with varying speed, on this clip.

So the tempo of the song stays the same, but ...
