I want to try and optimise the environment in which I make music and get some new gear to improve the set up, but not sure where to start.

At the moment I am using Ableton purely through my PC and onboard soundcard:

AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 5000 + 2600 MHz
2g RAM

Does anyone know a way of rendering a continuous DJ mix but keeping it as separate tracks. I.e. it would end up like a proper mix CD where it was continuous but it moved from track to track?

I am thinking of buying a copy of the Native Instruments Komplete Synths from a friend of a friend. However, it is the educational version; does anyone know if I will be able to install and activate this, as I am not a student? Do I have to prove that I'm a student or anything?
