Hi,

IIRC General MIDI sequences include a Program Change message at the beginning of each track that sets the instrument. In Live, I'd drop a GM-compatible instrument onto a seperate MIDI track then route all the MIDI file tracks to it, but on different channels.

We have a Microtrack here at uni (I'm the technician).

The microtrack works fairly well with the internal mic, but not so with other mics - there's lots of noise. It also only really works at 44.1k not 96kHz like advertised.

Hi,

Here's a possible workaround for the VSTi's:

Have an instance of each VSTi loaded with the correct preset for every VSTi in every song you use. Switch between them by assigning each a unique MIDI channel number. If that's too much for the CPU, then simply turn the ones for the non-current song ...
