Re: mixing tracks with different BPMs

I posted this thread almost 4 years ago.
Wonder if ableton 9 will bring any change for this problem.
Looking at the presentation video, I'm guessing it won't.
In fact, it looks like ableton gave up on DJ's completely.
No different BPM, no multiple loops, no browser with cover preview, etc...
It ...

Re: Ableton Live 9 soon? thoughts?

The same thoughts I had years ago...
You cannot compare Live to DJing like turntables or cdjs, to do this you will be better with traktor or serato, or stay with hardware...

IMO, Live is for another type of DJIng, if we can call it "DJing", I think in mainly use Live to drop sample loops in the ...

Re: Ableton Live 9 soon? thoughts?

-lauching tracks on different bpm level if you want to (not all tracks need to be beatmatched)

Put the BPM in the scene name so it auto changes the BPM on scene launch? Don't warp the clip of the last section of the song/outro you don't want to jump to the new tempo (see below)

-multiple ...

Re: Ableton Live 9 soon? thoughts?

quote from Morphosis in an interview on RA: "We lock music with Ableton,
sequencers and drum machines.
What I do is try to…free it."

I guess it's one of the reasons I stopted using ableton (and not much later stopped dj-ing altogether).
At first I was so excited with a tool that let you use samples ...

Re: motu Ultralite-mk3 Hybrid problems

Get sure the channel isn't muted and the mix has got the correct output!?!

Yeah thanks.
I unchecked the mute buttons and changed the bus 1 settings before, but it didn't work. But now I got it to work.
I guess inbetween changing the ...

Re: motu Ultralite-mk3 Hybrid problems

I tried asking for some more help at MOTU.
I havn't used the ultralite anymore, except for normal listening to music on the computer because I can't get it to work.
But now I would like to simply route the audio from another computer to a stereo pair of inputs (3-4 in this case) but I havn't been ...

motu Ultralite-mk3 Hybrid problems

I wish i hadn't bought this motu.
It has been a dissapointment on all fronts.
The buildquality isn't as good (touching one of the jackcables is sometimes enough to let the audio drop out, my main out gives cracks and pops);
The drivers are embarisingly bad. glitches all over the place. It takes very ...

Re: Alternative for a motu Ultralite-mk3 Hybrid

Quality of Motu went seriously down in last 2 years, lots of defective units, this company is in trouble. Presonus shows opposite tendency, their newest units have very low failure rate and their new products are of much higher quality, the utility software is excellent thanks the Steinberg ...

Re: Alternative for a motu Ultralite-mk3 Hybrid

I notice you have a Mac and a PC. Do you have this problem on both computers? Have you tried it on both?
No I have a mac that is still running windows (yes I know this is odd, but I got used to windows and have a lot of software that I don't want to buy again or doesn't exsist for mac.).
I havn't ...

Alternative for a motu Ultralite-mk3 Hybrid

Some time ago I bought an ultralite to replace my m-audio audiophile.
Main reason was I wanted better soundquality and better, more reliable drivers.

I wish i hadn't bought this motu.
It has been a dissapointment on all fronts.
The buildquality isn't as good (touching one of the jackcables is ...

Morphing sounds

Maybe not a real live question.
I'm looking for standalone or vst plug-in software that I can use with live, to morph sounds together.
I know prosoniq has something like this:
http://www.prosoniq.com/audio-plugins/prosoniq-morph/

But it's mac-only.
I also tried shareware soft called music morpher ...

re pitch just works on the sound and has no influence on the speed of the music whatsoever.

anybody have any experience with the smallest speakers from funktion one?
I know they're not really monitors. But for somebody who uses his set up mainly for dj-ing, I thought it might be fun. If they are as good as the systems they place in clubs...

Thanks for the tip.
I've been looking in to it.

These thing in the front aren't led lights or what not??
Because I don't think I would like that :)

instead of posting my own topic, I'll just post it here.
I would also like to buy a set of monitors.
I'm a dj who occassionally tries to make some music too.
Because of this, and because I play a lot of dubstep and electronica that relies HEAVILY on bass sounds, the most important for me is to have ...
