What I do is rackmount a fast desktop pc and control it with the notebook. Then my laptop can be any cheap old 486 (saves worry about beer spilage etc) and you have the advantages of a super optimised 2 or 3 unit desktop system rather than trying to fit it into a low bandwidth laptop. Especially if ...

Just a suggestion;
What I do is rackmount a normal fast pc and control it with the notebook. Then my notebook can be any cheap old 486 (saves worry about beer spilage etc) and you have the advantages of a super optimised 2 or 3 unit desktop system and not trying to fit it into a low bandwidth laptop ...

What's all this about using a crack. I'm using the demo thankyou. Would never steal from Ableton.

69 euros for the download version of Live! Where? I thought it was $249.

Dont get me wrong, if I buy Ableton I'm not going to haunt the forum with winges, I garauntee that. But come on, as far as ...

Geargasm mentioned musicians. I think he'll find them getting very frustrated without being able to play any instruments in Live.
Surely it wouldn't complicate the program too much to enable VSTi.
Even this would be enough to keep a lot of musicians happy.

And with the MIDI. You wouldn't have to ...

I am VERY dissapointed. Ableton seem to think VSTi softsynth/samplers are of no importance. What a joke. What else can you do live to impress people...yes play a keyboard. Not even a mention of their plans for VSTi.

Listen guys I have been putting my hand up on this issue for weeks, I've also ...

I cant believe it. What planet is Ableton on. STILL no VSTi softsynths or samplers. If they really think it's not that important then they are seriously dillusional.
There's not even a mention of their plans on VSTi.
What a joke. Big let down for many people.

You are right in saying the line is blurred between DJ and musicain. I apolagise for my gorilla tactics. But this is exactly why softsythns are needed.

Yes it would be possible to rewire to other hosts etc but what of the CPU and hardware usage of rewire and of duplicated services between programs ...

When is ETA of VSTi,DXi or AU Softsynth hosting?

Hi
I've just arrived on the list. Peace and prosperity to all.

There is increasingly more musicians looking for tools like Live combined with multitimbral (multiple independantly controllable instances) softsynth compatabilty plus MIDI sequence and output for onstage applications.

Live is HALFWAY ...

Seems like Ableton thinks their only market is DJs.
The fact is, there is presently the begining of a HUGE shift from hardware syths. samplers and sequencers to pc/mac ONSTAGE setups for MUSICIANS. Yes, people who play keyboards like Herbie Handcock.
Many people in the Logic forum for instance are ...

VSTi in ALL OS's

Please support VSTi and maybe also DXi. This is a must for any live package. Already many people I know of are looking at ways to switch over to using a computer onstage for live performances.
