Weird problem with my Saw waves in multiple plugins

Hello peeps. Having a bit of a problem. Not sure this is an ableton problem or just a problem with my synths.

Basically I created a patch in Ni Massive with one Saw wave Oscillator, and another similar Oscillator called 'Electric' which sounds like a Saw wave. I haven't detuned them from each other ...

I tried the -40db thing last night and agreed it didn't sound like a fart but did sounds incredibly compressed to the point where it had completely lost its whoomf and didn't resemble a cick anymore. Basically theres no set rules though. If you get a nice sound out of it then use it!

This I agree :) but I'm pretty sure that will sound more like a muffled fart than a thumping kick? I'll give it a try later???

Superchibisan -40db threshold? WTF? Are you sure you mean -40db? thats a very low threshold. Coupled with your suggested ratio of 4:1 which will reduce every 1 db over the threshold by 4db. In Drum Racks you can use chains so that when you hit a note with a low velocity it'll trigger a soft note and when you hit it hard it'll trigger a hard note. Check the manual for how to do this.

And Yes in Drum Racks you can make a sound cut of another by assigning all the sounds you want e.g ...

You could also just route both tracks you want the effect on to one audio track and have the effect on that. This way if you make any further tweeks to the effect it'll save you having to copy it across again. Also will save you a bit of CPU as well.
