Hm. Doesn't Live have a similar option to other DAWs where the project it starts up with is just a file, or you can set the startup file to be something other than the default?
Doesn't help you retroactively, I know, but going forward you could set a default project with controls mapped as you like ...

Is what I'm trying to do possible?
Might want to look at this:

Re: the os x tips thread
The holy grail I've been looking for is a way to move windows between Spaces with a key command, and not have to drag them using the little pop-out GUI thing. i.e. if Ctrl-5 moves you to space 5, Ctrl-Shift-Option-5 moves the current window to space 5.

is there a way around this?
well the obvious answer here is to only have "in" selected for one track at a time.
but... if you're looking for something akin to "select a track, play its instrument", then I'm not sure there's a way to do that in Live ...

Exacto knife or razor blade and patients.
Had all 3 of those.
I was more looking along the lines of "well I measured the dimensions of the contact surface, then scratched them in a square into a chunk of wood with a boxcutter, and used that as a template to cut pieces of tape out of...".

warning: OT
unless one has studied traditional piano or keyboard performance technique, the need for having a piano-looking musical input device is really just a thought form, or an agreed upon meme that goes unquestioned. Yet is it really true?

Re: Akai MPD and MPK pad mods - tips for better pad sensitivity
I tried this mod last night on an MPK49, and found it difficult to get consistent tape-square size (although I used electrical tape; I'll be trying it with pipe repair tape tonight hopefully).
