Re: Learning how to write the music I love

Thank you for that - I'm less interested in the technology side of things and more on the music side of things. Think of it this way - I want to write books but I want to write them in the settings and with the characters of books that I love to read. So I need to learn how to speak that language - ...

Learning how to write the music I love

Hi I need some direction. I've been writing music on and off (Scream Tracker, Impulse Tracker, Fruity Loops and Ableton Live) for 20+ years (mostly off) and it's all terrible. Ok there have been one or two pieces that don't kill the ears but even they aren't "good" by any traditional standard and I ...

USB to MIDI cable not working in Ableton

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I bought this VicTsing USB IN-OUT MIDI Cable Converter PC to Music Keyboard Adapter Cord from Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ACGMOA6/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and I'm using it plugged into my Yamaha PSR-260 which has MIDI In's and Out's on ...

Maybe this is a question of ideology but why not just show the new price in that space?

Thanks for the sale news.

Live 9 Intro Pricing

So why is it that when I sign in I can't see upgrade pricing for Live 9 Intro? I had a Live 6 Lite license years ago but I would gladly deactivate that to move up to Live 9 Intro. I've seen Live 9 Intro for as low as $65 out in the marketplace - would I be unable to activate that based on my Live 6 ...

Re: Building Your PC

well you all succeeded in twisting my arm. my hard drive pooped itself this weekend as I was trying to update the metadata for 4,000 mp3s and Newegg sent me a particularly well timed email advertising a Kingston 120GB SSD for $60 so I bit and then I got a Blue 1TB to go with it. I also 2 other 2GB N...

Re: Building Your PC

back to the original purpose of this thread, my hard drive continues to give me heartburn as it spins and spins and churns and spins and I'm just imagining the thing melting down inside my computer like Paul Atreides' hand in the reverend mother's pain box. Extra credit if you understood that refer...

Re: Building Your PC

I haven't been able to wrap my head around the value proposition of a solid state drive. I'm sure they're amazing - they're also crazy expensive. Any other opinions on WD Black vs Blue for HDD There's also hybrid SSDs if you want more capacity but i thought the price was pretty good on smaller SSDs...

Re: Building Your PC

Sorry my priorities start with the money first and what you get for it second. I don't break our family's budget for many things and when I do, it's not by more than $100 or so. i7's are completely out of the question but I appreciate the advice.

Re: Building Your PC

I can't afford an i7 and I'm a hobbyist (and a beginner at that) not a professional. It all sounds the same when it's rendered anyways.

Building Your PC

I'm in the market for a new PC and easily the most demanding thing I do on my computer is Ableton. What do you guys look for in your computers? I tend to buy from the value side of the store as opposed to the highest performance. At the moment, I'm scoping out hard drives and looking at WD's Blue vs...
