never mind! please delete!

this is not so much a live - specific question, more of a general one

say for instance i'm using a midi controller (in my case a novation remote sl 25) over usb with any DAW you could think of (live / logic for me)

now say i want to program different sounds / instruments on DIFFERENT midi channels ...

after much rigmaroll, and reinstalling 3.1's sysex commands to the unit thru Sysex Librarian, i've foun id was an issue with my midi I/O settings within Live

Basically because of the way that the remote is working in version 3.1, you've gotta activate 'remote' for the ports active for the ...

i've uploaded the factory settings, but i think the installer for v2 isnt working because i've still got 3.1 on there

will get rid of 3.1 and let you know how i get on!

oh absolutely EVERYTHING is as it should be

as i said the midi's going out its being received by ableton quite clearly, but its not getting to the perameter i want to control (i hae everything st up as a template when i first open live)

so i'm at a ...

i can use everything else but the assignable buttons and rotaries on the right absolutely fine

for some strange reason the MIDI's going in, the CC numbers are the same as in the previous template....but they're just not moving or controlling anything!

i'm going to have to phone novation support ...

well it was a nice plan but....

i've just tried to reinstall version 2 onto my mac and the keyboard, but its not taking the downgrade for some reason

install goes ok on the mac

but when it comes to switch the remote on and take the templates for that version, it just wont connect...keeps asking ...

yeah i noticed that with the whole server program it installed, probs best to flop back to v2 for the gig and then upgrade again later and see what the vibe is then!

updated the OS to 3.1 on my novation yesterday

just went to open up ableton for a session and i've noticed that the second row of knobs and buttons (on the left hand side, the user definable ones) aren't being recognised as MIDI CC's in Live, even though the midi is showing as going into ...

hmm does it add loads of colour / character to the sound?

if so, i'll consider giving it a go, as i'm currently looking for an old braodcast / radio compressor that'll give my sound a signature tone

just looking at the my remaining space on my HD and i;m using about half my space

however i have nowhere near that amount of data on the drive, so i was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on reclaiming HD space?

i always mix dry before i mix wet where possible

eq and dynamics, then fx....and then maybe a bit more dynamics and eq afterwards to finish it off!

obviously theres an inherent amount of fx required for writing certain forms of music, however if you've got everything eq'd and panned where you like ...

ring modulation is the processing the sum and difference tones of 2 input signals, whilst the input signals themselves are supressed.

amp modulation is when you use the frequency of one oscillator to change the amplitude of another oscillator over time...so i believe!!
