Ableton Education
Hi. I am still relatively new to Ableton. Use it for production and djing. I produce house, progressive house, trip hop, and occasionally some hip hop. I have a pretty basic knowledge of ableton -- enough to produce songs, but no fancy production techniques. I was wondering if anyone could give me s...

Re: Akai APC as Monome
Whoever made this video is using exclusively Ableton with follow actions. 1. 5 clips are chopped into 8 parts each and put into five tracks. 2. Set follow actions for each clip so the whole sample plays through. 3. Assign each button on the APC to a clip so that a row will display a whole sample pl...

Re: Akai APC as Monome
It is indeed Follow actions. Notice the two triggering lights scrolling, that's due to the next clip being prepared based on the follow action setting. Easy to make by Midi mapping the individual clips to the APC grid. Limitation, no scroll options beyond the 8x5 plus alternatively Clips Stop / Tra...

Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNLSIwTpTEc I was wondering if someone could explain a couple things: 1. What exactly is going on in the video? What is the APC controlling? 2....

Re: Having trouble with automation...
To make my problem a little bit more clear, I will give an example. Let's say that I am controlling a tracks volume with a knob. I record the automation using the knob on the BCR. Then I decide that I want to change something a little bit, so I go through and manually draw in the changes. The red li...

Having trouble with automation...
I am using a Behringer BCR2000 as my MIDI controller to control effects. Here is my problem: If I record my automations with the BCR2000, then try to draw in some additional automation, or draw in corrections the automation i made with the BCR, the effect or parameter deactivates and I can't reactiv...

How to manually input BPM for a sample that you are using?
Kinda new here. Quick question. Let's say that I am using a pre-recorded audio track in Ableton. In the sample box, below the warp button there is the box that states the BPM of the track. However, ableton has miscalculated the BPM. How can I manually change it? It looks like a text box, however, it...

Remix and Mash-up Questions
I have a few questions about remixing / mashing pre-recorded tracks. Let's say I made an instrumental, and want to drop an acapella over it. What would be the best way to bring it in so the timing matches up as well as possible. My problem now is this: If I have Ableton auto warp for me, the sound q...

Re: What is your process for new music?
Similar to this, I've always wondered the best way to switch between Live sets. Say you have two original songs, you are playing one and want to transition into the next...what would be the best way to do this? Thanks.
