he played a wicked set the other day when i saw him play with 3 laptops, and a xone3d. but nobody was complaining when he was playing 6hr sets at Gatecrasher in 1999 with only a box of records and 2 decks.

you are so wrong! Live does not suck for DJ'ing. How else would you be able to loop plastikman - spastik over the whole 2 hrs of your set???

I was at the gig in question (good grief @tall trees), and all three laptops were PVD's. I assume one is just a back up. He also had 3 laptops at the gallery a few months before.

It seems like a lot of kit just to loop plastikman - spastic over the top of everything ;-)

Paul Van Dyk brought along a 3D and ableton when he played at GoodGrief last night. He was getting jiggy with triiger finger as well. Didn't get the chance to ask him how he was getting on with it, but he looked to be enjoying himself.

Does it have a round orange button in the bottom right corner that flashes on and off?

Wy don't you just take the spacebar button out? Just wedge a paperclip under it and lever it out. Works on most keyboards! Same for F10.

I'd also recommend the firewire audiophile. You'll need two stereo outputs in order to cue songs in your headphones

Native Instruments Battery 2 is pretty decent.

yeah,by routing my dj mixer through live, i can use all the effects and stuff. downside is that if it did crash, i'd be screwed!!! you could easily do it the other way round e.g put the output of the computer into the dj mixer. swings and roundabouts really though!

Just set a channel to receive audio from the inputs on your soundcard. Arm this channel and the audio should play through it. You can stop and start a set in this state whilst the audio continues. When ...

Hi all, Finally bit the bullet on Fri night and did my first DJ set with Live.

I found it quite interesting and came across the odd problem (none to serious) and other bits and bobs that worked better than expected.

Points to note for next time;

Be extremly careful when adjusting tempo.
