Re: drum sound question
hmmm, i think part of what i'm asking about is how the drums sound kinda sample-y, sorta lo fi to some degree. maybe there's a bit of hiss there? then the rolls or whatever that come in at around 2:10... just curious how one would go about doing that sort of thing in ableton with the drum racks and ...

drum sound question
hey folks,
i'm still pretty much a novice at production techniques and drums / percussion in general is definitely my weakest point. anways, i've noticed a neat drum processing sound in a couple songs and I'm curious if anyone knows how it was done. i'm thinking this is probably a drum machine ...

guitar as a midi controller
Anyone know if there's any software out there that can analyze incoming audio signal, in this case from guitar, and convert it to midi notes on the fly, essentially allowing you to use your guitar as a midi controller? I know there's pickups that are designed to do this, but it should be at least ...

Re: export from live 8 to live 7?
cool, this should be helpful. i was hoping to be able to do this without having to essentially re-assemble the project.
i want to do this because some of my band members are still on Live 7 and I'm on Live 8, so I was hoping there was some easy way to share my projects with them.

export from live 8 to live 7?
hey all,
i have a feeling this isn't possible, but does anyone know any tricks by which I could save a set from Live 8 and be able to open it in Live 7? I totally understand that not all the devices and such would work, but just being able to export the basic layout and midi sequences / wavs would ...

really simple tempo change question
hey all,
I have a quick question, i'm a bit embarassed I can't figure this out myself, but here goes.
I'm putting together a song in session view, and want a tempo change between 2 chunks of the song. how do I go about doing that? It's easy enough to insert a time signature change, but i can't ...

MGMT -style vocal processing
hey all,
pardon me if this is a bit more about recording techniques than particular to ableton, but...
I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions how to achieve a vocal sound like on that MGMT song "time to pretend." It sounds like the lead vocals are double by a kinda choir of other people, sorta ...

Re: recommendation for a midi control
hmm, yeah, i wondered if that might not be the case. definitely the audio interface is the lowest priority. do you know if the kontrol49 is the only controller to integrate the "lightup" launch pads?

recommendation for a midi control
Hey out there,
I'm curious as to what people suggest as a good "all-in-one" midi controller for Ableton. I definitely want to have at least a 25 key keyboard integrated so the novation and akai ableton-specific controllers aren't very interesting to me. The KorgKontrol49 has those nice pads that ...
