Are you using it with a Mac or a Windows machine? Is every knob/button/whatever assignable in Live? How does the audio interface on it sound? Build quality?

Sorry for all the q's, just curious about this beast ;)

It's been a while (too long!) since I've spent any significant time in Live, but I'll be there :D

Fair enough, fluterby. I stand by my indignant comment, though. It's still too damn much :(

I was so pissed when I did the pound to $USD conversion on the cost of the MXF8 plus shipping. It comes out to something ridiculous like US$450+ for a unit that requires a bulky wall wart AC adaptor *and* a MIDI adaptor of some sort! Sorry guys, but high build quality or not, there's no way I'm payi...

I've been seriously considering going to Mutek - it'll be my first vacation in ages! Can't think of a better way to spend it than taking in what I hear is a great city and some great music.

I'll probably be going alone. Anyone interested in meeting up there, maybe talking some Live tech?

I have MA-10As and I love them. They're compact, they sound great even to my picky ear, and they have a nice selection of inputs. Highly recommended.

Thanks for your advice, audioel. Sounds like we're spinning very similar stuff! I was getting quite frustrated with this whole concept. I kept almost getting it - having tracks that would line up for a measure or two and then slowly get out-of-sync, despite what I thought were correctly placed warp ...

(Bmore represent! :P) Yeah, I thought of that, but at least for this mix it doesn't quite work. Perfect for the ol' hip-hop to jungle bridge, though.

Comments and Questions

I'm really enjoying this discussion, and I cast my vote in the apropos thread in favor of a DJing forum. Admins take notice, please! :D It's taken some time to get the hang of the track warping concept and technique, but after hours of fiddling today I think I've got it. I just got through laying do...

Yeah, looks like that'd be the thing to get. I'd still like to be able to use the software I paid for how I see fit, however

I'm right there with you, Purple. I've got a show coming up and I want to do exactly what you describe, a kind of next-level DJing that's more than just mixing tracks. I've got it pretty well figured out on the Live end, and I'm excited about the possibilities of controllers like the Grex for really...

Darn, see, I thought breath-holding would be the way to go. You know, passive Gandhi-style resistance, right?

Yeah, I know. Just thought I'd throw it out there. *Sigh*

Why Not Allow Separate Output Devices on OS X? Oh God, Why?

I know this topic has been done nearly to death, but I'm bringing it up again because it's just that important that the Ableton developers know what their paying customers want. There is NO TECHNICAL BARRIER to allowing Live to send audio output through two separate output devices on Mac OS X. Trakt...

Edirol PCR-1

It looks like the Edirol PCR-1 might be what the M-Audio Ozone should have been: a combination USB keyboard, controller, and audio interface with a separate headphone output for monitoring! Its small size and light weight are also very appealing. Though the listed price is US$370, I've seen it liste...
