Re: Monitors - what to replace the VXT4s

Have you considered the KRK subwoofer? That will help you get a better handle on your bass than new nearfields would.

Re: Waves PlugIns in Live 9

I had this problem, once with the beta, then again with the final release. You need to put them in a custom folder, then point Live to that custom folder to locate them. It's super annoying, because it adds a folder under 'VSTs' but you only have to set it up once before it starts working. Good luck!

Suite 9 and Lion, same thing happens to me with my Apogee Duet 2. Drives me nuts, hoping for a fix. It happens just when I quit Live, I don't even have to shut down the whole computer.

Re: Live 9 Suite empty drum rack

Live 9 has a whole new library, and it does not import anything from Live 8. You can bring your Live 8 library into the browser, or you can reinstall all of your live packs and delete your Live 8 library, it's up to you.

Awesome, thanks! Can't wait to get home an try to enable this. What a HUGE feature, I wish they could have cleaned it up and included it in the first release.

Re: mp3 encoding - artist name etc

Thanks man, Unfortunately everytime i load up Audacity it crashes before it even gets loaded up! Have deleted and re-installed a few times but every time the same. Weird. Any other free tools you know of? I have googled but getting very confused. There's a program called Max (not the same as Max fo...

Re: Does audio to midi work for anyone?

I use Audio to Midi, and have been since the beta started, so I have had some time to get used to it. Long story short, it works for me. My girlfriend and I are a band, and when she comes up with a lead guitar part or keyboard riff or whatever, she sings it to me. In the old days, I'd sit there and ...

Re: Ableton used for recording, editing and mixdown of solo guit

If you're not interested in playing live with a laptop I'd actually recommend Reaper. I'm currently learning it as I'm interested in being an engineer/producer for rock bands, solo artists, etc. It's only $60 (unless you make over $20,000/year from music) but the features on it actually are above a...

Re: Win 95 Games - Free Audio Sample Packs

How would these go in the realm of copyright? I am sure the sounds even in those old games would be subject to licensing if anyone wanted to actually use them. To be honest, These games are nearly 20 years old... so I didn't really check into that. I usually shoot first and ask questions later :lol...

Re: Bass pre-amp DIY

Yeah, it depends on your interface's routing options. I do similar things with my Apogee Duet 2, I run audio out of outputs 3/4 into outboard effects/processing, then back into the interface's input to a new track. As long as you make sure everything is set for the right kind of signal, then you'll ...

Re: Ableton used for recording, editing and mixdown of solo guit

I just did a test run, and the editing capabilities in Ableton BLOWS! Seriously, can you guys include a decent editor with the program for those of us that record actual acoustic instruments? I'm not sure what features you're looking for, I edit acoustic audio almost exclusively and I have zero iss...
