I think a click is defo needed. If you had a break in the music apart from the drummer, and then went to launch a synth or percussion loop, AND the drummer drifted by about 1bpm or whatever, it would sound awlful. No?

Very helpful advice from you two there. I think that the issue of bass players starting first is an interesting one. Did not anticipate that.

As for style, its a breakbeat/funk/jazz/electronica affair. We would need a click track so that loops and effects are synced. I do not think you could ...

HELP: Using live in bands

Hi folks,

I am starting up a band similar to Groove Armada in that it will mix real instruments with electronica. However, I have been wondering how the hell you would sync everything together i.e. making sure that launched clips will be in time to a live drummer playing breaks.

The only thing I ...

what about the housing and face plate, how are you going to make it? is this included in the price?

Hopefully my chum who is an engineer type electronics dude, is callingin a favour. I think the top panal is going to be 2 ply- black on top and white underneath. The artwork gets put into CAD and ...

how much do you think this will cost? my custom build is rocking up at around 650 euros without the housing or face plate and it only got 48 encoders. i can see it breaking 800 euros before im done.

I think the electronincs were 100 pounds and the faders and buttons come to 235 pounds. We got ...

He said that the hardest part was a few hours sat at the CAD computer!!
Not quite as quick as that eh?

It actually was not that much longer. Its just because we have been trying to fit this in around the birds and jobs etc.

Yeah it is. Although we are short of two pots. I have to express my thanks to my mate Warren who has done all the CAD. He is currently working on rendering the final design

At present only for a bunch of mates who use ableton. In the spirit of midibox we all have an input. But there are bigger hopes for something else not using the midibox platform  That, however, I am not telling. :-)

We are going for laser etched top sheet. Basically you don't have to label everything. Most of the mixer is built around what a DJ needs so we will etch accordingly. However, we have a section that you can assign freely so there is no need. We may even do it so its just a white area that you can ...

Yes we are using Midibox. Midibox 64 to be precise. The buttons took me ages to track down. Buttons are available from www.rjselectronics.com. I have a part number of RJSPB61303BL-5. This changes depending on colour etc. I know there are a lot of people waiting for this but we try to work on it ...
