Thanks for the kind words!

I've been getting some positive feedback lately from those who I respect (namely, other musicians) and it has inspired me to get more material together.

BTW - I like your stuff. You use many lead sounds that I'm afraid to use at the moment. Hopefully, with enough ...

New stuff since I last posted - opinions & friends welcome!

Four songs on myspace. Various genres - breakbeat, industrial, trip-hop, & new wave-ish stuff. Hate to say experimental because it implies irritating, structureless noises that go on for 20min, but this is an experiment none the less.

All songs made using Live, operator, impulse, simpler, apple ...

I do pretty much what everyone else here does.

1. Session View - pile up beats (sample loops) from Apple, Trackteam, Future Music/Computer Music, or internet until I find something I like.

2. Find a bass sound that works with the beats. Operator, Simpler or X-Station. When I record the X-Station ...

I was thinking about getting cocktail drums, but decided on a traditional kick & snare.

Nice, clean recordings - great job!!

Thanks,

Re: Novation Bass Station

Anyone have one? How is it? Is it worth $250?

++I'm talking about the hardware unit

I had the hardware unit - simple, straightforward, and sounded good, BUT...it felt like a cheap, cheap plastic toy. I wanted to see how it compared to my X-Station and it wasn't even close.

Save yer $250 for ...

It occurs to me that what you described as doubling might actually be something else.

Just for shits & giggles, try this:

1. Set your default warp mode back to beats.

2. Preview your piano loop. It should sound like the doubling you described.

3. Now, adjust your tempo up or down and see if the ...

Not a bug. I use Apple loops all the time in 6 and have had no problems. I usually have the track set to "auto" and it works fine.

You will hear doubling if you are recording and listening to your source and track at the same time though.

Make sure you don't have any audio effects (like delay) on ...

Amos,

I also basically upgraded from 4 to 6. Several things were not quite right, but I chalked it up to differences between how sets are handled between 4 & 5 and then 5 & 6. Most of my panning controls were off center.

I basically reloaded 4 & 6 from scratch to try to get everything back to ...

-Buy Live 5
-Download upgrade to live 6 (does not upgrade 5 per se, it's actually the entire Live 6 application)
-Burn Live 6 download and your serial number to a CDR if you want (although once you get the serial, you'll always be able to dl the latest rev of Live 6)

The last version of Live should ...

LOL!

I'm a couch producer too. I'd highly recommend the 15" screen. I used L4 on an older iBook w/13" screen and while it was a useable configuration, I had 2 more tracks visible with the 15" and with less eye strain.

Definately do not buy memory from Apple as the jack up the price 3x the street ...

Re: Refurbished Powerbook - how much is it worth ?

Hello !
I won a refurbished Powerbook G4. For the ones that don´t know (as I did): Refurbished means that it is used but completely reworked by Apple. So it´s like new.

Here are the specs:
Powerbook G4 Aluminium
1,5 GHz
15"
80 GB HD
Combo drive
WLAN (what is it called, Airport...?)
new battery ...

seraphimdemonic,

Did you set your audio buffer correctly? Are you powering the Axiom off the USB bus - try using the power supply or batteries and see what happens.

Good luck,

L6.0.1 - Messages, Graphics and previous versions

Okay, so far I'm enjoying L6, but there are a couple of things I'd like to show and mention.

First, I got messages from startup that Operator will not work. This happened the first time I ran L6b15, but this time I've got pics.
