yes the track 2 solution is ok
but it works with one track only as told us tone deft

you also have to toggle OVR off

but what you propose doesn't work

record your clip as usual, do not stop it, just switch monitoring to Auto from In, you can play along with your recording.

when i swith from AUTO to IN the midi clip can't be heard anymore, i only hear notes played on my MPD24

in fact i just got some partial answers elsewhere on the web

when you star to record notes into a clip you can then toggle the "OVR" button in the main menu bar and still hear what you play and the clip is also still playing but it doesn't seem to work everytime, you have to start recording first ...

to play notes on my midi controller (MPD24 or Midi Keyboard)

because when i activate MIDI "IN" i don't hear the midi clip playing anymore.. you see ?
