Re: The No1 Wish for Ableton Live

+ 1 for comping. Ale the described workarounds don´t do it.

Re: Looper's follow tempo by stretching instead pitch shifting

+11111!
Time-stretching is badly needed for the looper!

Jamstix is much more inspiring than EZD, no doubt about it.

And Jamstix 2, only a few weeks away, will be even better.

I also subhost AD and sometimes DFHS in Jamstix, but soundwise it can stand on its own, too.

I think Stewart is practising black humour with this article.

Otherwise, he is very honest to the point of perfectionism which I kind of admire. Refreshing. Who wants to read some self-mastubatory 'yup, we've still got it, we rock, best concert ever' baloney as usually spouted by the press, agents ...

Well, there´s an attractive upgrade path to Live 6 full version.

I did it when I got addicted by using Live Lite 4 that came with my Line 6 Toneport and I´ve never looked back. :)

Something completely different...

Nothing to do with electronica here this time (no pun intended). :)

This is a more conventional (love-) song that I wrote for my soon-to-be- wife that I am particularly proud of. (I´m getting married for the 2nd time next week, so there you are...).

Tracking was begun in Cubase (to a lesser degree ...

Sorry folks, stupid question: - what is "comping"?

thanks,
Gabi.

It means building a "perfect" take from several takes.
Often used for vocals, but also for guitar solo stuff very useful.
let the singer sing his part 3-5 times, then take the best snippets (intonation - and expression- wise) and ...

uhh, what about recording different takes to seperate tracks / channels, doing your edits on them and then bouncing all those takes to a new channel, through resampling for example? isnt that effectively the same thing?

Theoretically yes, but it´s not easy and quite cumbersome to get there.
Once ...

One of the biggest cons of Live 6 is that there´s still no way to do a comping of different takes to get a "perfect" take, like recording/editing in lanes (e.g. offered by Cubase or Reaper).
But I guess this already is high on priority in the feature wish list already.
Another MUST are time sig ...

The reason why it doesn't have the long load times is that the amount of info in the samples is not nearly as detailed as BFD or DFHS. AD has 3 GB compared to DFHS 35 GB. As for crashes, I've never had a problem, but then it does tax the system resources. Again, just opinion.

Yeah but that´s ...

I agree.
Another option and especially interesting for the creation aspect of drum grooves is JAMSTIX by Rayzoon.
www.rayzoon.com
I let Jamstix create the groove and have Addictive Drums play it (subhosted in Jamstix) .
Unbeatable combination IMO.
There´s a group buy for Jamstix at the moment in ...

Umm... you can´t. The UX2 is no Midi device that generates Midi driven Sound events. It´s an Audio device.
