The rumors I've heard is that Apple is only going to be doing i5 MacBooks and won't be doing an i7 version, at least not in the near future. The reasoning is that i7 laptops have very short battery times, due to the processor's power requirements, and Apple doesn't want short battery times associated with their brand identity. This might all just be rumors, though.

With Intel’s Arrandale chips rolling off the production dye in January 2010, that would make June 2010 a perfect time for Apple to roll out a MacBook Pro refresh with new Core i5 and Core i7 chips.
June... :x .

I don't know about those ads. Apple products are the default computers, phones, and MP3 players used in every form of visual media. The people making that ad probably didn't even realize those processors aren't in those computers. Most of the population of the world isn't as tech conscious as we are.

Regardless... I would gladly welcome a quadcore i5 MacBook Pro into my life.
