Who needs pan control on stage?
Re: Who needs pan control on stage?
it depends on what you assign it to i suppose. not ever knob in ableton is specific to a clip or even a channel.
if it's a matter of it even getting in the way, just create a new emtpy channel, throw whatever you want in it and assign the knobs to control something in that channel like the volume fader. so then even if they do turn it wont affect anything.

Maybe it's me but the APC40's pan knobs seem to behave differently than the sends do. The visual readout is obviously different, and they're not as smooth or responsive with devices. I haven't explored it that much though because the lack of visual feedback throws me off, esp. 4 tempo synced things.

Yeah, but you don't always get what you want. And if people are that upset about pan knobs being there that they aren't gonna use then midi reassign the knobs and find uses for them that doesn't have to scroll and be happy with what you have.outershpongolia wrote:Not exactly, they'd be reassigned to a permanent spot.. meaning when you scroll they aren't going to scroll with the rest of the stuff..Johnisfaster wrote:midi reassign the pan knobs. solved.
People want to be able to reassign to say Send D, and have those knobs scroll just like the volumes, and the other sends, etc.. get what I'm sayin?
Of course not, we are dealing with a group of people that would find a way to complain about any product. "I wish the knobs were smaller" "I wish the buttons were softer" "I was it had more than 8 macros" No matter what they make people are gonna bitch about it like the thing is unuseable.outershpongolia wrote: Read 3phases' response, he'll explain why reassigning wouldn't help very much.

I like a small pan backstage with one of those camper gaz thingies for a quick snack after the soundcheck. Also blow and especially crank needs to sit on a hot plate for a bit, much easier to rack up then.

sorr man.. i owned an apc and now the lunchpad.. the software implematation is dreadfull on booth.. not well developed.. not optimized for stage use and in many regards not especially smart..
on the other hand the user access is well prohibited.. you cant acces the apc template without actually having an apc...
you have to live with a rudimentary implematation or by max for life...
and this little detail actually might point to a marketing scam here... just develop it with some flaws so more users will buy mfl to get it wright..
either this or the guys that have devolped this are *****...
Lets say like this.. if the synthhardware of the 70´s and 80´s would have been developed with this degree of expertise and dedication techno never would have happenend.. and a company like ableton never would have been founded..
its really a shame to set allways theese half good..a bit genial..the other half crap
