All the pre release betas were good and then releases for a bit as well, recently it has become really bad, crappiest thing is the new file format is not backwards compatible, I might roll back to an earlier one though what a hassle!!!! Did a small interactive installation for a party over the weeken had to restart Live several times, bit amateur :x

Anyway pointless to whine about it Ableton know it's not working properly and they're fixing it. Will be great when they do.
yep... whpo is the pussy now.. however.. its allmot a year now.. the disgustment cant stay much longer.. beside one crash and a kernel panic b7 dont feels so bad.. seems to be on the way now..
latest september or so everything should be fine...

Not gonna read the thread. By five pages I already know what's happened.

-Guy says live is unstable. Probably doesn't post enough to know that it's been said a lot on this forum and doesn't realize what he's getting himself into.
-There is usually one or two quick smart ass comments about "well just use Live 7 then you crybaby" or some nonsense like that, implying that it is actually a trivial task to discard your relatively new software and port everything back to an older version.
-A few other people jump in to say yeah Live 8 is way more unstable than any other version was this far into the release.
-Live fanboys jump in to say that everything is fine because it is on their system so how could it be unstable on anyone elses?
-Someone calls someone a douche, insults fly about who has the lower intelligence etc., people are accused of live being unstable due to their own bad system setup, or perhaps third-party plug-ins are the problem. Who needs those anyways?
-Someone makes general comment that Live is still in beta and we shouldn't have to be beta testers.
-Someone else points out that all software is buggy, live with it.
-Then we all go home.

Am I close?

P.S. Does anyone continually find amusement in the fact that many forum members constantly claim that Live is just fine (since it is for them), while there is a fucking QUALITY announcement stickied on the top of the board from the CEO?

Sort of. You missed the part where everyone agreed that the new iPad is going to kill that fucking Lemur once and for all.

Other than that, you're spot on!

Oh shit, the ipad already come into the discussion before page 5? That usually doesn't happen until page 8! Well at least Ableton's forum is getting more efficient! :P

Your psychic ability impresses me.....I just got done in the krv forum with the same type of thing.

At least the lies and mud slinging from both sides keep me laughing until 8 runs better. Kinda like Politics here in the States

Ah well, I still have faith the abes will get'er solid again. In the meantime I can't live without the features in 8. I don't find it too annoying to compose with but I wouldn't trust it on stage. I'm currently not playing out so it's not really putting me in a position to have to make a difficult decision thankfully. I do always get a couple crashes over the night when I'm jamming at the studio, but the other guys just play without me for a few minutes. I'm really not sure what I'd do for a show. I'd probably go for it, but I'd be nervous.

but thats the crap.. i ve a gig in 10 days and how do i accs the stuff i composed in L8..

render any single loop with the fx racks? but what shall i do on stage than..fiering scenes and watch the audience? or rebuild the fx and instrument racks?

basically the only thing i can do is to start all over again...

or risk it to do it with l8...what would be insane...

Why do I bother? Not sure really ...

I just want to say there is one thing concerning this instability of the current version that I have been thinking ...

What was the major change from 7 to 8? It sure is not the couple of new plugs and it sure ain't the folder tracks either ...

What I gather one of the biggest under the hood features was changing the graphics into vector based and zoom-able form. I have heard that this feature set is super flaky ... Max msp 5 at cycling uses the same gfx library and using max is like drinking tar now compared what it used to be.

HeadrickProductions wrote:I think that the zoom function is very important!!! I don't want to sacrifice this....but I want stability because I am stuck with 8 and my buddies who had 5-7 moved :x
I personally don't use the zoom for anything and if removing it would actually make Live more stable ... The decision would be dead simple to make ...
