I was just looking for this feature yesterday. And yes, it would be really handy, and yes, it's strange that it's not in there.

The developers must have thought that "oh, you can just select everything and copy, it's just as easy", whereas in fact it can be tricky, esp. on big arrangements.

- it's also inconsistent as hell not to have it :(

just duplicate and cut, no need to have to manually select all of it.

yes, it should be there. but duplicate-cut is technically the same as copy. except for the short moment your playback (if it's after the duplicate/cut place) will be out of place (while duplicating, you obviously shift everything after it away, then cutting move it back to where it was).

you're right, but not only is it inconsistent with the rest of the commands(just looking at the Edit menu should make that error really apparent, "copy" just sits there all alone ;) ), it's also not immediately apparent to do that dup->cut manuveur, imo.
BUT a much better workaround than selecting everything. Cheers.

yes, it's a fault on their part. but for me it was immediately apparent. then again, ctrl-d is my main shortcut i use in live :) have some nice pattern? spread it to the right as much as possible :) i dup all the time, so i found time-dup awesome.. and when i missed time-copy it was, after the rumbling, the first idea i got :)

Cool. Got some good pointers.

"to copy, i normally duplicate time, cut time, move to new place, paste time"

Ableton has made a amazing program that is nothing less than FROM THE FUTURE. I am just so surprised they completely overlooked the most basic editing feature in history.

COPY

(easily applied to all tracks)

Anyway... onward :)
