goddamn you're one stubborn sonofabitch.

Haha. And you said Wikipedia was full of "stupid stuff."3phase wrote:no..you are all stupid fanboys.. his own wikipedia link disprooves him..
"Data does nothing in the absence of an interpreter, so the notion of compatibility does not apply to document files, it only applies to software. In the case of a program that creates document files, a new version of that program ("v2") is said to be backward compatible with the old version of the program ("v1") when it can both read and write documents that work with v1. Everything that v1 could do must also be possible with v2, including saving documents that can be read by v1 (which is something that v1 could do.)"

Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. I wasn't saying it should be taken as gospel always and forever or anything. But it's (usually) better than nothing if the article's well-formed. In which case the references down at the bottom are usually what you really want for info.3phase wrote:I like wiki.. but it is patchwork in progress.. and there are defently some wrong articles .

I don't know if you're just taking the piss here, but no, you cannot, evidently. I was so sure I read somewhere prior tomr.adl wrote:To get this straight:

this release that they'd been working on sorting out this problem, but looking at the download page now, I can see it
clearly stated that if you save your project in 8.1.3, you won't be able to open it in a prior version.

Just to clarify:
But:
- Live sets saved with Live 8.1.3 will not open in previous versions of Live (Live 8.1.1, Live 8.1, Live 8.0.x etc.).
Best,
- Live 8.1.3 will of course open all Live sets saved with previous versions. If not it is a serious bug.
- Live 8.1.3 should also be able to open Live sets saved in yet to be released, future Live 8.1.x bugfix updates such as Live 8.1.4. If not, it it as a bug.
- Live 8.1.3 will most likely not be able to open Live sets saved with any (yet to be developed) major upgrade of Live such as Live 9 since such an upgrade will likely introduce changes which are incompatible with Live 8.

If you're not concerned about the mix, or plugin settings, etc. can't you just save MIDI clips out and dump all audio to stems and import that into whatever you're moving to?3phase wrote: that the mix or some plug in settings get lost is not the main concern when you open a future file with your old version as long you still can access the musical content...
