oOo : I just say that using maschine VST within lives makes the CPU handling dependant from live's

I just learn now from Varoudis how to use "duplicate" apps... so I don't know anything about CPU / cores handling with this tip!!

VAROUDIS : THANKS A LOT !!!! you're the man 8)

I never thought of using this trick, but that seems really GOOD!!! (even with the little limitation it induces)
(I just wonder if soundflower or jack will be able to manage these 2 instances, I'll give this a try next weekend!)

cheers

Has anyone had issues with build quality?

The first Maschine I had, the faceplate wasn't stuck down properly (at the top above the screens). I could press it down and it would stick, but it would soon pop up again. It's only a small flex but it's noticeable.

The replacement i've just received also has the same problem (though a tiny bit better), but there are also some small marks on the faceplate (one particularly noticeable one above the 4th knob below the screens).

Anyone else had anything like this? Is it just me that's bugged by it?

I did post this issue on the official forum (before I received the replacement) and didn't get any replies.

def check with ni bout that cause mine had no such issues, undoubtedly maschine is the best controller on the market in regards to form factor, damn if they would have just stuck a crossfader on the mofo somewhere on the left I would not need another

I haven't had any issues with build quality either I wonder if a bad batch got out there or something?

+1

if i would have grabbed a dodgy model like that, i would reported / complained immediately and directly at NI,
because all their hardware is real good quality and that sounds like a bad badge slipped through the otherwise pretty good quality assurance.

yeah man, it seems like people that got theirs a while after the initial release are experiencing this, I had not the first batch but the second batch when they changed the f1/f2 buttons to something else.

maybe it is something to do with the demand and they let some slip out of quality control

I'll be watching mines though, to see if it happens, but so far so good.

I did contact NI directly and they offered to take the hardware unit and inspect it, then repair or replace. They only refund delivery up to £12 though but even the basic UPS etc. is at least £40. Where the hell can I get delivery to Germany of a parcel for £12?

I sent it back (entire hardware/software) to retailer and they were quite good about sending a replacement, but I have no idea why they didn't take a look in the box to see if this one had the same problem.

Is it possible to turn off the LCD displays when not using maschine (while maschine is still connected to the usb port) ?

They don't light up when the s/w isn't active.

hmm, when mine is connected the two displays shows "Maschine" and the other shows "Start maschine software or press shift+control for midi"

all the buttons/ pads are turned of though.

yes, that is correct your now in maschine 'idle' mode, that means you either have to switch switch+control to go into midi mode and all will be active (well all you configured with the control editor) or you need to switch the maschine software on and the maschine mode will become active and then you still can switch back and forth with shift+control between midi and maschine mode, depending on what you want to use...

beware to set up your midi ports correctly within maschine, otherwise it can happen that if you have maschine standalone running and let's say live you still trigger maschine and live simultaneously (there is a maschine midi command port that needs to be switched) but that port can come in handy if you work like i described here: to let ableton and maschine standalone running simultaneously (but i think that works only on mac, because of the core audio driver you need ~for all you windows heads~ core audio, it's core audio... do you listen?)
