It's been said a million times in a million different ways, but that doesn't make it any less true:

House is more of a shallow, fidgety, idiosyncratic, mildly intellectual exercise for the creator than any sort of real listening experience for the audience.

Fuck, who the hell actually sits around and LISTENS to House? lol. Nobody.

People only dance to it because.....because.....because......because......ponce DJs stopped playing New Order 12"s in clubs?

My OP was more about *ANY* musical genre, just the noob coming in and asking quick tips to make killer tracks in a few hours with no practice, patience, and experiment involved...

"how to make killer dubstep tracks"
"how to sound like aphex pusher"
"how to make a good techno beat"
"hello, I wanna be a techno producer"

oh, well, I should stop right now, or I'll be the dumbass here, I presume

I need to stop checking out other folk's music.
Why discriminate against house? I use those filtered white-noise 'woooosh' sounds in virtually every track I do...
Comes from being of "a certain age" and not being able to let go of the past...

beats me wrote:As annoying as the repeat questions might be, the scarier part is many a successful house song could be written on little more than applying the responses in these threads. Go browse through the house tracks on beatport and how much of the songs do you think is actual music writing and originality compared to how much is the same tired sounds, formulas, patterns, and production techniques.
oh jeez, don't get me even started on that... and most annoying is how much apparently production trickery and M4L type of nonsense millions of unnecessary plugs and gawd nows what other useless shit they apply to come up with one generic rubbish after the other... that all sounds the same.

well, that actually just makes me laugh again and again.

ahhh come on... we do that all the time, so leave us alone in the lounge and enjoying our adult conversation while having a good whisky and cigars.

I tell them about one time for 5 times they ask, but in the end, I get nervous. I'm quite all the time gentle, quite a sensitive guy who doesn't really like internet forum "battles", but yes, those questions really make me more and more agressive.

it's a bit like "hi guys, I just bought a piano, how do I play chords like thelonius monk?"

a bit like, because indeed, house music could not really be compared to jazz music

and, BTW, I LIKE house music (electro house much better, and even much much better when it's more "underground")

cheers

fair enough, rant away

All I know is that I surely don't have any platinum records, hit singles, or big label deals, so don't go asking me how to get a pro sound.
