I like my blackberry and my laptop (with Win 7).
I've heard a lot of complaints about the little track ball joystick thingy on blackberries. What's the story there?
before touch screen, it was the best thing going IMO, unless you're into a stylus, which I hate. I like touchscreen for some features, but not all. I'm on my 5th or 6th Blackberry and I only ever had trouble with the wheel and/or trackball once. I pulled the ring around the trackball off, lifted the little unit out and blew on it. I think a piece of tobacco was causing the problem. Whatever it was, the issue was solved when I put it back together. The newest model I have has some type of vinyl cover over the trackball and its enclosed really well. I don't foresee any issues since others with the same model have been going strong. Even newer models have a track pad, like a mini version of the one on a laptop. I manage the BES server at work which has about 26 blackberries attached to it. I don't remember more than maybe one of them ever having a broken trackball and it was a Pearl which was like the chick version of the phone. They're pretty solid and the touchscreen models had a few little isms at first but the new OS is top notch. We have 3 or 4 users that have em with no real issues. The only problem that seems to pop up on any kind of regular basis is the micro USB connector goes out. This seems more like a flaw with that particular bit of technology rather than the phone itself, as most phones these days have em.
At the end of the day I think a lot of peeps just prefer the sleekness of the touch screen, or at least, they think they would...
