It can't be charged via a laptop's USB port; need to always use the supplied power supply, right?

That's right. Needs at least 10w of power; which all computers except those very recently released can provide at the USB ports.
Hmm, so it will charge from a 2008 MBP but not a 2009 MBP? I'm pretty sure it has charged from my 2008.

Ah. It won't charge at all (well, VERY slowly) from my 2007 MacBook. iPad on or off.

Wait, what? I've always charged my iPhone and iPods from the computer and was planning to do the same with the iPad (assuming the wall adaptor is yet another added expense).

It amazes me how many people I know with an iPhone that didn't realize you can make your media and app purchases from iTunes on their computer and what an easier and more detailed experience that is. I don't know how the fuck you would find good apps doing it all from the iPhone. This is related to the fact that they always charge from the wall which means they miss OS updates as well.

Tis true, iPads do not charge well over USB from a computer, was a big stink about this when it was first released.

Thankfully the wall adaptor is included.

Cruising the app store on the iPad is much easier of course.

However, one thing that's always pissed me off about the app store is that you cannot sort search results according to....anything. At least, I've never found a way.

True that about the searching. Maybe Apple will fix that. I also don't like the latest redesign of iTunes, nothing recent but what they did with 9...or whatever the fuck version it is on. I've never liked or got the fact that if you're streaming a preview you can't click on another page without it stopping the preview...beatport doesn't have this problem and you'd think Apple wouldn't either.

I also hope that some day they'll add video previews of apps and not just screen shots. On a lot of apps screen shots don't cut it.

I've heard a lot of complaints about the little track ball joystick thingy on blackberries. What's the story there?

It really couldn't be any easier. You just add controls and drag on the images to position and resize.

You don't even need OSCulator if what you're controlling supports OSC. OSCulator just lets you map OSC to MIDI.

before touch screen, it was the best thing going IMO, unless you're into a stylus, which I hate. I like touchscreen for some features, but not all. I'm on my 5th or 6th Blackberry and I only ever had trouble with the wheel and/or trackball once. I pulled the ring around the trackball off, lifted the little unit out and blew on it. I think a piece of tobacco was causing the problem. Whatever it was, the issue was solved when I put it back together. The newest model I have has some type of vinyl cover over the trackball and its enclosed really well. I don't foresee any issues since others with the same model have been going strong. Even newer models have a track pad, like a mini version of the one on a laptop. I manage the BES server at work which has about 26 blackberries attached to it. I don't remember more than maybe one of them ever having a broken trackball and it was a Pearl which was like the chick version of the phone. They're pretty solid and the touchscreen models had a few little isms at first but the new OS is top notch. We have 3 or 4 users that have em with no real issues. The only problem that seems to pop up on any kind of regular basis is the micro USB connector goes out. This seems more like a flaw with that particular bit of technology rather than the phone itself, as most phones these days have em.

At the end of the day I think a lot of peeps just prefer the sleekness of the touch screen, or at least, they think they would...

I watched the series finale of America: The Story of Us on the History channel last night and they credited the 2 Steves with the invention of the personal computer, showed Bill Gates staring off into the distance for about 3 seconds, and then put in some brief footage of the iPad.
