DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
Re: DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
I have the same problem. I have recently purchased an M-Audio Axiom 61 2nd Gen which came bundled with the Ableton Live Lite 8.2 software. General MIDI works fine, but not the Axiom directlink functionality. The directlink has worked fine with Reason, after I downloaded the driver from M-Audio. The directlink functionlaity appears to be built into Ableton Live, no special driver required. I see from other forum posts that it used to work (pre 8.2), but not now. So lets hope there is a patch coming soon as my first look at Ableton Live looks interesting.
Re: DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
Same problem here in 8.2 with 2nd gen... Without the Axiom 25 driver, midi mapping does not work. After installing the driver from M-Audio, the midi mapping is working when inputed manually, but not the automatic mapping.
That is: Options: Edit Midi Map OR Right Click where you want to control and click in Edit Midi Map.
Here is a video with an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUmGvNPJ5YQ
Also, remember that after closing the workspace all your presets from your midi mapping are erased, you have to create save a blank live set with those presets to keep having that midi mapping each time you start a new project.
However, the best solution would be up to Ableton Live. Something went wrong, and it is not automatic. I have tried even by setting Lock to control surface (Axiom DirectLink), but it does not work. I have to do it manually.
Hope this helps in the meanwhile to those having the same problem. Will be waiting for an answer, Ableton.
Thanks!

Re: DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
One more with the same DirectLink problem although I'm using an Axiom 25. Just got it today, set up the MIDI In's and Out's just like it says but no DirectLink. Pads don't trigger impulse or drum racks (supposed to by default), transport controls don't work, etc. I can configure some of it manually but not the pads. I found something on the M-Audio site that explains how to assign the drum pads: http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.ph ... leton+live if anyone is interested, it does work. Shouldn't be this hard though, that's the whole point of DirectLink, right? What's up Ableton?
Re: DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
Can anyone from ableton let us know if they are working to sort this out or not? I'm pretty close to selling my brand new axiom over this.

Re: DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
Hello. I seem to be in the same boat.
My contribution to the discussion is that when I purchased and set up my Axiom25 2nd gen with Ableton everything worked initially. The transport controls worked, the Axiom screen changed with each instrument change, and the drum pads worked with the drum modules, etc. But I had problems with Reason/Record...
So I installed that 'DirectLink for Record' file and now the Axiom works great in Reason/Record.
Ever since then it won't work in Ableton. No transport, no instrument control, no pads. It could be that I updated Ableton at that same time but either way it shouldn't conflict or be this complicated. One thing that Reason says is to use CHANNEL 10.
Ableton does not specify a channel to use. C'mon people (at M-audio) this isn't 1987 !!

Guys, don't sell your gear. Unfortunately, the Axiom DirectLink script got broken with Live 8.2. We already started digging into it and will release a fix in one of the upcoming versions.

Hi Torsten, thanks for the feedback. What timeframe can we can expect the fix to come through in?

Looks like a few months with no reply.
Any news on this? I would love to use my brand new axiom to control params.

Re: DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
So when does the beta go live for the full ableton live suite version? If I understand correctly, installing the beta only lets you use 8.2.2 with ableton live lite?
Re: DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
No, the beta starts as whatever version you've been authorized and running already - Lite, Intro, Full or Suite.

Re: DirectLink Lesson for new M-Audio Axiom 49
Im still having this issue with my Axiom 49 DirectLink and Ableton Live 8.2 I can't get the transport buttons or the faders or knobs to send midi information. The keys seem to work fine, so I can still play the notes, but I can't midi map the anything else. Is there a definitive solution?
