Disable plug-ins when opening a file
Disable plug-ins when opening a file
A few of my live sets won't open since updating. Is there a way to disable plug-ins when opening a live set so I can troubleshoot and find the culprit (as well as retrieve other information in my file)? I know this can be done in Pro Tools. I first had a problem around Live 8.1.5. Thanks in advance.

Re: Disable plug-ins when opening a file
What error message are you getting? If Live can't find a particular plug-in, it should still open the set. Also, have you update to Live 8.2.1?
Re: Disable plug-ins when opening a file
Live just crashes and then I get an "Apple Problem Report" window. I don't know how to read the information in the window. Although I did notice my IK Multimedia Vintage Comp 670 listed. Here are a few of the relevant lines:
I have this plug in other Live projects without a problem.
I'm running Live 8.2.1
Thanks for your help.

Re: Disable plug-ins when opening a file
Have you been sending in the crash reports that Live generates? Also, please contact Ableton technical support about this: http://www.ableton.com/support. Thank you.
Re: Disable plug-ins when opening a file
No, I have not sent this to Apple. I will contact Ableton support. Thanks.

Re: Disable plug-ins when opening a file
A quick clarification - Live will generate a crash report when it crashes. When you reopen Live, you should see the option in Help View to send in the report.bri859 wrote:No, I have not sent this to Apple. I will contact Ableton support. Thanks.
Re: Disable plug-ins when opening a file
Yes, I did that. I went to the support page and found that information. I am currently speaking with support. Thanks for your help.

Re: Disable plug-ins when opening a file
This was resolved through the good guys at Ableton support and I thought I'd post the fix for anyone following this thread.
I sent a crash report as stated in Ableton's support area http://www.ableton.com/support (see "Contact Technical Support"). They confirmed what I saw in the Apple Crash Report window that popped up when Live crashed on my Mac. I saw that there was a problem with my IK Multimedia Vintage Comp 670. I deactivated all plugins in the file/folder tab of Live's preferences, then opened the Live Set I had a problem with (it opened with no problems this time), and I got rid of the Vintage Comp which was on the master channel. I saved it and everything is working fine. It's strange that I could use this plugin in another file on the master channel and have no problems but support said they're working on a fix. This is my first time dealing with the support staff and they were very helpful . . . extra points for that Ableton!
