For me there is also the issue of CPU, speed, and concurrent uses of the same instrument. Even two instances of Massive can cause hiccups in my set if I'm not careful. I have racks w/ 100's of operators on it that run w/out issue. For this reason I went the suite route.

I've got some decent specs I just tend to run a ton of shit concurrently and build interesting, useful instrument and effects racks that get pretty big. Gets pretty choppy w/ an instrument rack w/ 10 instances of Massive, but 100 instances of operator and it's smooth.

2.8 ghz core duo
500 GB 7000 Rpm
512 hz graphics card (forget the brand)
firewire solo interface
4GB ram
Windows 7 64 bit, optimized for audio
