...on a Macbook pro.
Everything is already authorized and legit. But when I turn off airport Live refuses to open. Anyone know why this is?
Live wont open when I'm disconnected from the internet....

There is a login setting in the Preferences, think it is on the last tab. Maybe that is enabled?
I'd contact Ableton support directly.

Ableton's support hasn't been much help. They want a crash log, but the program dosent crash, it just wont open up without being online. I guess they might think I'm up to something suspicious....
Anyhow I assume your suggestion was to turn off online activation and just do the offline type, thanks for the heads up gonna try that now.

There used to be a preference which allowed for a persistent login with the Ableton website (probably for the proposed Share feature), however it looks like that is no longer an option. That was what I was referring to.Jason Alacrity wrote:Anyhow I assume your suggestion was to turn off online activation and just do the offline type, thanks for the heads up gonna try that now.
Ableton Live does not require a persistent connection to run. Once authorized, there is no need to reauthorize offline - it is either authorized or not. If it won't open, then it is probably crashing or stalling during the start up process, and a Crash Log would likely identify where it is happening.
My guess is that there may be a third party plugin causing Live to stall during startup. Try disabling all external plugins on the Preferences > File Folder tab, and see if it opens without the internet. If so, it is just a matter of isolating which one it could be by manually removing and replacing all of the VST (and/or AU) plugins. Where those are stored depends upon your operating system.
If not, you're likely going to need Ableton's help. That's just the truth.

Thanks Akshara, that totally worked. Now I just have to hunt down the offending VST/AU.
