It's not like they're in the same field.

It is same field - of music, I bet most of people seeing this thread thought of some delay or reverb pedal endorsed by the Mad Professor. Most of people in music field might have never heard about any other Mad professor other then the producer, and not some book character from their grand grand father library.
The only luck of that finnish guy is that Mad Professor is as he is- nice person, concerned more about music and not some pop or rock star who would have called lawyers right away.

That's a pretty huge presumption, in my opinion. When I hear the words "mad professor", I get the image of the generic white-lab-coat-bubbling-beakers-lightning-in-the-window mad professor-type character that you see in cartoons, cereal boxes, movies, and literature right up to the present day. A dub fan might be confused by this branding, but in my opinion people into most other genres would get the mental image of the "classic" generic mad professor before the specific contemporary producer.

I might be wrong, sure. But if I were you I wouldn't be so quick to write off something from a "grand grand father library" when it continues to be a pervasive part of modern culture.
