I'm sorry that you're so frustrated with Live. However, we can't help you unless you send us crash reports and get in touch with us about the issues that you're having. "Crashes" is far too vague of a problem to diagnose. Please do get in touch with technical support, so that we can help you to individually address your issues. You can contact support at http://www.ableton.com/support/contact_ ... al_support.

As to the licenses issue, you do need a valid Ableton license to get technical support - thus why I wasn't able to see if you'd contacted us before based on your forum account.

I have sent all kinds of crash reports David. I really have. I want to thank you for completely out doing your predecessor however. I genuinely mean that. It's pathetic when a customer/tech support employee can just "screw" with whoever they please with respect to those that paid their money for your product. That is PRECISELY what has happened to myself and several others that I know from here on this forum. That's why we NEVER use our registered email address on this forum. Subjectivity has NO PLACE within the parameters of a customer service employee's job description. No matter whether that person is in, or is the HEAD of tech support. Ableton would do well to grasp this concept.

this really means nothing.
my license is under a different user name than the one i use to post on the forum. i figure its common sense not to use the same user name as you do when posting. all some one would need is my password and then they would have my license.

What happens when you contact ableton using the account you log in with when you register the software online? Looper is a bit weird for some people, computers are really diverse, you'll be helping a lot of people if they can use your data to improve looper's performance. It's fair enough that ableton filter out support requests from emails without a registered user account, it'd be difficult to claim otherwise.

Just laughing at the whole interaction really. Anonymous Internet rager complains about lack of service, then receives lack of service due to anonymity. But I do realise that "zee" is most likely an alternate forum login for someone. I doubt they'd register a license directly to a name which is a criticism of the product.

The actual complaints in the thread are real of course. Looper is weird, bug packs sent usually get an autoreply and then nothing else. So the user feels like the issue isn't being fixed. It's also a little odd to see attachments silently go missing in the system. The auto reply does say "we'll only contact you again if we need something" but that doesn't really do much for the users sense of the process.

That said : anonymous Internet rage always gets a

Thing of it is Angstrom, that's NOT the reaction that most of the frustrated license holders have that I have communicated with personally, and sadly, it's certainly not the reaction that most new prospective Ableton customers will have after doing a bit of research.

You just cannot release a revolutionary software product like Live, perpetuate it for 8 full generations, and IGNORE your company's absolute and undeniable incumbent responsibility to fully and exhaustively research and develop your HOST program's facilitation of major 3rd party VST players. Fact.

If Live came with a big disclaimer stamped across it's advertisements "not for dependable live performance use with 3rd party plugins" or even, "may not work properly with all popular 3rd party VST plugins", I could at least say that I've been warned.

There is just no excuse for this. That's why "customers" react like this TYPICALLY when any consumer product is unreliable. This is not rocket science, no mystery here, blah, blah, blah.

Update on this: zee verkawound is gone, so no point responding to him. Turns out it was a user who had previously been banned.

David-

A quick appreciation, even if it labels me a fan boy. I'm glad I don't have your job and I'm extra glad that you continue to do it. It's difficult to support a community when so much of your time is spent wading through childish over-reactions to normal situations. Is Live perfect? No. Is it really good? I think so, absolutely.

Im glad that it works for someone, it gives me some hope that it may for me one day. So you can start a song by playing in a loop and then trigger pre recorded ones and they will all play in sync to the tempo looper created? if so, Could you tell me what you hardware set up is?

There are a lot of posts about ableton not liking 3rd party plugins, could my problems with the looper be because of this?

Looper isn't a third party plugin... it works for me as a tempo slave, I remember getting confused over the different start stop options and I've never really cracked how to use it in arrangement (I just record its output into another channel).
