true pioneers tho and we should respect them for that
mosca
PS - saw them back in '91 when they still actually played instruments
Saw them in '98 or so. They were most certainly playing gear then. Only adopted the lappies recently, I suspect.
I'd fucking see them if they brought out their robots and stayed at home in Dusseldorf.
The Live CD is the shit, too. Though hunt down the boots' from previous tours. Worth it.

dont get me wrong - i loved kraftwerk, and the '91 gig was a night i'll never forget (it was also my 21st birthday)
but c'mon the joke is wearing a bit thin dont you think?
if kraftwerk were to release another 'real' album it would have to be the greatest electronic album ever released, they know that, and they cant do it.
they dont have the edge anymore, we've moved on, we've got Live for a start
i'd dearly love to be proved wrong on this point, but i wont be

Yeah, you're kind of right there. I've been re-reading Pasccal Busssy's book to relive the excitement.mosca wrote:dont get me wrong - i loved kraftwerk, and the '91 gig was a night i'll never forget (it was also my 21st birthday)

i saw kraftwerk live last year and it was SICK. Florian looked like kurtz and glared ominously in green 82 futuristic computer lights.......they might be nearing pensioner age, but seeing them give shout outs to the D with UR remixes in front of thousands of old nerds kept a grin on my face for weeks afterwards.....and watching ralf sing effeminately with his hand cupped to the telemarketing headset was worth the price of admission alone.....ignore at your peril!
aerodynamic!
aerodynamic!
Hah! I just foudn my ticket stub for the show I saw. June 13, 1998. Funny, my daughter was conceived one week later.rajcoont wrote:i saw kraftwerk live last year and it was SICK. Brief report after first night of festival:
Stubnitz is an old (large) trawler. Two venues on board, basically the forward and aft holds, where the fish would have been tipped in. The venues alternated, so no overlaps.
Cathode and Pixel were both good; couldn't see what Cathode was using, but Pixel using Live.
Monolake was brilliant. Most people were dancing and screaming for more at the end. Robert gave a seminar in the afternoon, but unfortunately I couldn't make it to Newcastle in time.
Autechre were an experience. Not necessarily something I would describe as enjoyable, but definitely an experience.
Down in the hold of this ship, the resonance of the drumming in the hull, even when standing where it was underwater, was intense. I doubt that I'll ever hear bass like it again The kit they use is nothing like I have ever seen before.
