tip: morphing between 2 presets

note1: i've only tried it on the operator, but i think you can also do it with simpler and impulse, if you don't change the waveforms
note2: only works in arrangement view

you can morph between 2 presets that have completely different parameters: just record while you switch presets, all the parameters will be edited in the arrangement's automation. you then need to find which ones have changed, and redraw the automation to make them change smoothly, your kick drum turning into a fat lead synth...

HOLY GUACAMOLE! i just tried this with a vst and it works as well!! this means you CAN change vst presets in an arrangement! nice one!
doesn't work when you bring it around to session view for some reason.
if this worked in session you could change presets there seamlessly during a set. wonder why this doesn't work?

i wonder if you could use this to change presets during a session view set. if you drop back to arrangement and have keys mapped to trigger points in the arrangement...

Unfortunatly. You cannot acces ALL of the parameters in session.
This only works in arrangement view.

it doesn't work in session, because the automation edited in session is only relative (and displayed in clip's enveloppes).
here (in arrangement view), the automation is edited at the arrangement level, which is absolute (ie REALLY moving the knob parameter value).

but session view is mainly for live performance, and performing live means YOU have to do the tweaking yourself, not let the computer do it!

Yeah. But it would be a nice workaround till we get program changes for the operator

I use this trick for operator preset morphing and I find a quick way to draw the morph curves is to simply select the time length over which you want the morph to happen and Ctl+Del (Delete Envelope).

Live automatically draws a line joining the source and destination values. You can add 1-2 breakpoints in the middle for non-linear morphs.

Also, one nice effect is to morph various parameters over time intervals of different lengths (like the oscillators pitch params - A morph over 1 bar, B over 2 bars ...)

Btw, you don't need to 'find' them because Operator shows all changes with little red dots on the panel of Operator. Just click the 'dotted' parameter and respective automation will show up in the arrangement.
