It's probably not obvious (although it is explained in the manual) but this isn't quite correct.33tetragammon wrote:it only seems to work if you set the source to 'granular', and setting the 'stretch' knob to zero (or maybe i'm missing something obvious).
The "stretch" control is completely ignored when all mod sources assigned to position sum to a non-zero value. When the combined mod source values modulating position sum to 0, the value of the stretch parameter is taken in to account. You can use this to your advantage by using e.g. an MSEG. When the MSEG "flatlines" the sample will play back at "stretch" speed, otherwise it will play back at "MSEG slope" speed.
We're considering actual live sampling and also slicing, but won't commit to anything just yet. Drag n drop almost certainly in v2.0. Col (biomechanoid) and myself are both in the corner fighting for individual outs but remain to convince the others. What i would love to see in a future version of Alchemy:
- realtime sampling, an integrated sample editor and adjustable crossfade looping with constant power fades.
- drag and drop audio files into Alchemy.
- individual outputs for all sources.
All of these ideas are awesome, but if we implement all of the awesome ideas we won't release it until 2020
Peace,
Andy.
