Hey. Fellow 1212M PCI user here. I use mine with Behringer ADA8000. I think you're on the right track, but you look a little bit off of what I use for a similar setup. This would be my normal setup...
(ADAT Out) ASIO Out 1/2...7/8 PatchMix strips with peak meter in slot 1 and "SEND -> PCI Card ADAT 1/2...7/8 Out" in each ASIO Out channel strip in PatchMix. These show up as outputs #1-8 in Live. MUTE these PatchMix strips.
(1212M Analog Out) In the PatchMix "Outputs" window check that "MON" is routed to I/O Card Out 1/2 if you use the 1212M's analog outs for your main stereo outs. These show up as outputs #9/10 in Live. MUTE these PatchMix strips.
(ADAT In) PatchMix strips "PCI Card ADAT 1/2...7/8" are the ADAT inputs. You most likely want these to have peak meter in insert slot 1 and "SEND -> HOST ASIO IN 1/2...7/8" on insert slot 2. These will show up as inputs #1-8 in Live and allow for multi-track recording. MUTE these PatchMix strips.
(1212M Analog In) PatchMix strip "I/O Card In L/R" with peak meter on insert #1 and "SEND -> HOST ASIO IN 31/32". These appear as inputs #9/10 in Live. MUTE these PatchMix strips.
(Software Out) "ASIO Out 31/32" and "Wave 1/2" PatchMix strips with Peak Meter and no other inserts. These take the output from your software (Live, Windows, iTunes, etc) and route it into PatchMix. Do NOT MUTE these PatchMix strips.
Within Live, you can group your Live tracks into Drums, Synth, Bass, and Atmosphere track groups. The audio from each track will be routed to the group. Then, set the group audio outputs to External Out 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8. This will give you the four stereo submixes coming out of your ADAT outs through the Fostex and into your mixer. I think that's what you're after, right? Be careful that you have not created a feedback loop if you are using your mixer as a pre-amp going into the 1212M analog inputs.
Hope this helps!
