Agreed, that would be funny for at least a second.

love how the lamp posts sway with the pointer.
never bothered to listen before.
which one is the good one beats?
i'm downloading 1 of 15 (So Brite) now.
I recommend the Filling Up The City Skies double release.
Double release because it's more than you could burn to a single CD. Aren't we done with that by now?

I prefer the new stuff. I've never really been a fan of sampling, so to see original sound design in his productions is impressive to me. Shows he's still learning.

I know, right? Makes you want to quit pretending you dabble in music and go get a degree in accounting (because according to LSZ your days are numbered)H20nly wrote:fuuuuck... this is some good music.beats me wrote:I recommend the Filling Up The City Skies double release.![]()

And no offense to the many skilled producers on here, but it blows my mind that he gives all his releases away for free. The quality is worth some coinage and I think would get it.
But soak in the Skies songs for a month or so and then download the newer stuff and the same magic isn't there. It's Formulaic.
Still respect the man but I feel like every sketch he did he felt was worth release because it fit the formula.
On a side note I started this post in 2010. Cool to see there's still some interest and discussion.

Yes it's been awhile since I've checked his stuff and I know it's gonna rock when I'm in party mode, and not get old the further my buzz gets, at least for an hour.

The thing (problem) for us who dabble in production ourselves is we want our heroes to keep delivering stuff that blows away instead of relying on formulas that made them successful.shadx312 wrote:Yes it's been awhile since I've checked his stuff and I know it's gonna rock when I'm in party mode, and not get old the further my buzz gets, at least for an hour.
There's a different level of writer's block. There's writer's block where you can't finish anything or don't come up with anything you think is worthy of public consumption. Then there's writers block where you just lazily fall back on the formula that's worked for you in the past and call it a day.
But I also can't delve into the motivation and master plan of other artist's head or those who appreciate what they do. For some if they were able to sample from a wax cylinder found buried under a civil war era wagon wheel on a long abandoned plot of land that's how they get their mind blown. I knowledge that's cool as shit but that doesn't give the track a pass across the board.

Right, well, it passes enough for him to make what seems to live an ideal life.
Unfortunately for me I'm not satisfied with farting gold because it doesn't take effort. I'd rather toil on something until I'm happy with it even if it sounds like shit to everyone else, even if the gold farts could give me the life he has. I guess that's why the term "idiot savant" is like that for a reason...
That being said, in the spirit adding beats to classic rock, I remembered a shower idea ("what if I tried doing this with that...") that I started mining months ago until something else distracted me

heh, so rough
oh, except the beat was a just a placeholder (having placeholders has never really been part of my repertoire but this was the inspiration)

That could be misunderstanding though as I wouldn't want everyone to think that I went through some suffering and heartache for every little piece that's put out there and I think it's gods gift to mankind. I just have this issue that if you didn't go through some sort of trouble to make something good, it doesn't feel deserved, like if it was just some great piece that was happened like "That's it? That's all it took? It just kind of fell there". Maybe it's similar to feeling guilty for feeling happy when there's blahblahblah. There's also the thought that a great album had to be like that, holing yourself in the studio for a year or 2 to make like 8 or 9 great songs that will stand the test of time. It's doesn't feel right just pumping out a bunch of good stuff while not going mad in the slightest.
It's not a good quirk to have, trying to get over it and catch up without thinking it has to be a challenge to be worthy.
