I would like to know this as well.
yes it will be. They have stated they will be avaible at release.
No -- Ableton said that 64-bit Live 9 would support M4L. I haven't seen anything about retrofitting that support into Live 8.

Yes - that's what I bought. And it includes the Live 9 Suite upgrade.

Well I'm 100% sure I paid 75% of €238.67, so if €238.67 was the full price without a 25% discount, I'm definitely 100% certain I got a 25% discount on that price. Including German VAT and a rate of 19%.

So the real question is whether I'm 100% sure €238.67 was ever the full price of the upgrade without a 25% discount - I guess I can never know as I never tried buying it before the 25% discount was offered.

Conclusion: We should have set this experiment up properly, with a control group.

They are. I got an email about it in December, and the shop page shows you what upgrade offers you're entitled to if you're logged in. Targeted advertising, innit - clever stuff.

So if i have operator + Sampler, I don't get any thing else discounted! only the 25% so i pay €209 regardless?

I would think (hope) that your upgrade path recognises & takes into account your previous Operator & Sampler purchases.
The way Ableton lists its upgrade pricing can be (well, IS) confusing at the best of times, I guess it is because of the number of different add-ons you can purchase and depending on which of the 3 main software packages (Lite/Intro, Standard & Suite) to give Ableton credit, they do seem to try and take into account different individuals previous purchases, be it Max for Live or individual instruments bought etc when that individual is upgrading.
That is why you need to be logged into your Ableton account when looking at the upgrade paths/options and that is why almost everyones upgrade pricing will be different. Of course I may be mistaken but that's the best I can think of to work out what's going on.

Live 9 Upgrade paths

Post by #1thelark » Sun Jan 20, 2013 9:43 pm

So I'm just curious if I should buy a discounted new Live 8 Suite w/ upgrade or wait for the Live9-upgrade on their website.

ableton.com tells me this Live8Suite+M4l user - > Live 9 Suite update 199Euros, Live Standard update 129Euros

So if I just upgrade(downgrade) to Live 9 standard (129Euros), I keep M4L, but lose Sampler,Analog,Operator and everything else? Or do I even lose M4L, because I only have a M4L 5.1 license?
That's really a bad deal.
Basically, at the moment Live Lite to Suite 8 upgraders get M4L with the free Live Suite 9 update, but users that paid for M4L it don't get rewarded with a proper discount, is that correct or do I miss something???

There is so much confusion on this stuff...

If you own operator, analog, M4L, any devices you already purchased, then you own a license to that instrument.

If you upgrade to Live 9 standard, you have all of Live 9, plus whatever licenses youve acquired. If you already own Operator, you'll have Operator. You will be missing out on some sound packs, like essential orchestra, etc. that did not come with the license for Live 8 Suite. The version of m4l that Live 9 uses is based on Max6, so being that it is a completely upgraded version, this will not carry over, however they are offering a discount of 65 bucks to current owners of m4l as stated in their FAQ.

You will not lose whatever you already own. For most people upgrading from Suite, upgrading to Standard will be exactly what they need.

I wish pricing questions were directed to Ableton, not the user form. And I also wish Ableton did a better job of making this information prevalent, as it is stuff that has been asked and answered time and again by the Abes in random parts of the forum.

Yep. New website design is not really clear on all of these questions. And this thread is definitely TL:DR.

So, I have Live8 Suite, so I only miss the new glue compressor when upgrading?

That doesn't make sense. If I upgrade to Live 9 standard and have to buy M4L again for 59 Euros then it's pointless not to upgrade to suite because the Suite upgrade is almost the same price (129+59 standard+m4l vs.199 Suite).
Seems like existing L8Suite+M4L-users are really screwed.

i think you're overcomplicating this. if you own Suite 8... then you just pay to upgrade and... voilà... you own Suite 9... there is nothing additional Ableton has to offer at that point. M4L is now included.

when people try to crossgrade their licenses and only pay for part of this while keeping the old that... complaining if the math gets a little cumbersome seems somewhat ironic.

in America the push plus live9 [suite: edit] upgrade is 849!

A Live 9 suite upgrade(standalone) is 299 and a Push (outside my account) is 499 = 798

I can buy a push from some random dealer like guitar center and Live 9 suite upgrade standalone for less than the now advertised push upgrade price for suite (liv8) owners; thats fucked up and there better be a nice fat discount; much larger than what is advertised on your push page. Especially since you are saying there will be an even further discounted live 9 price for current Live owners.

Suite for life motherfuckers, dont fuck us in this fucked up economy
