Re: Written Vs Video tutorials
It depends, but I think in most cases a video is helpful if it’s about dialing in a certain sound. If nothing else, the audio part of the video certainly helps to show you what are going to achieve. Ideally a hybrid of video and text steps helps..text that isn’t part of the video.
Re: Written Vs Video tutorials
I find it depends on the subject material and how you want to bring it forth.
Something like AMS files could never be explained in detail in a video. I'd just be some guy/girl quoting floating points and using the word Sine a lot.
Audio Effect tricks and explaining devices works better in video.
Video with text only works if the video is like a minute and contains 5 sentences for which you don't want to lower the volume.
Because of my accent, I tried text on video. But it kinda sucked ass.
After a while I stopped giving a damn about the accent. The only downsides to that are that its harder to get picked up by the big publishers and that a lot of comment threads on Youtube at least once have somebody asking "are you Dutch?". With one correct guess on which Province
In the end, its easy to measure which tutorials work best. They're the most viewed/commented ones.
Everyone loves a compression trick, but nobody gives a damn about AMS files.

Im in the boat of depends on the subject matter and presenter. I have watched a few videos that I wish had been written. So far I have gotten the most out of and enjoyed Tom Cosm videos tons.
