Another new Max for Live thing made for Konkreet Performer...

A matrix mapper from KP's parameters to anything in your track... very nice...

Don't understand why you guys haven't updated this app at all....

:x :?: :x

By this point I would have expected to see general MIDI assignment capability because, let's face it, many of parameters in the various cool synths for the iPad are fully mappable. It's kind of annoying that I still have to rely on OSC (which 9 isn't supporting, pfft) in order to make use of this amazing controller.

For $25 I've gotten my money's worth, so don't get me wrong. It's just that with something this cool you'd like to see it updated and evolve.

:x
I came for the

Hi LSZ,

We still want to update it (for free) to include CoreMIDI (and some other improvements) - it's just taking much longer than expected to do it in useful way... Current v2 alpha already sends MIDI ok, so I hope we'll be doing a first beta round before long. Apologies for the long wait, but we're a very small team and have to do other stuff at the same time to earn a living... :) It's frustrating for us too - we've so many ideas, but so little time...

Anyway, will keep you posted as soon as beta begins...

80, lol. Thanks, brutha. Good to know you're still plugging away.

It remains absolutely the best controller app out there. Nothing else like it. Not even close, really.

Does this substitute Osculator? I'm just learning about using OSC for ipad control of software. From what I understand, since Live doesn't handle OSC, you need Osculator to transform the OSC sent from Konkreet into midi for Live, right? But Max for Live does accept OSC, so this device would mean you wouldn't need osculator?

Also it says in the first page desciption that it works with midi as well. If so, then why wouldn't it just be able to send midi directly to Ableton?

cheers

Hi, yes, for connecting it to Live, this patch can replace OSCulator.

Currently KP only works with MIDI via an OSC-to-MIDI converter, whether that's OSCulator or one of the free patches, that's up to you. But, as mentioned above, we're working on native MIDI support.

Danke!

Yes, now direct connection from KP to Live without OSCulator. But I still find OSCulator useful for occasional stuff like OSC re-routing... so worth keeping in your utilities... :)

If I want to use KP to control Kontakt instruments in Live or Studio One, would I still need oscillator? Or would this new direct connection let me do that?

No you wouldn't need OSCulator for that... KPv2 will send out direct MIDI so you just need to connect either over WLAN or via cable (using Apple's camera connection kit) and it'll send MIDI to Live/Studio One like a normal MIDI controller...

And will it have bidirectional midi communication as well? Like when i adjust a parameter in Live, will it update in KP as well?

Not in this update, no. OSC remains bidirectional (even when you change the OSC address patterns - a new feature in v2), but MIDI is out only for now. MIDI out is so cool though - controlling iElectribe or the iMS-20 apps via internal MIDI is great fun, even if - or maybe because - I don't know what the hell I'm controlling any more... Can't wait for everyone to get the update... :)

Is it a free update or a separate new app? Just wondering if it will show up automatically in my ipad app updates.

thanks
