I am a Live 8 Suite and M4L owner who is not interested in 50 gig of audio I just would like Max 6 and Live 9 maybe. Will Max 6 work in Live 8 suite?

Would there be an option for Live 9 and Max 6 without the sound library?
Max 6 is not supposed to be supported with Live 8but I've been using it for almost a year now and everything seems to work fine for me, and I've used it to patch audio, midi and video devices.

Hi, I'm left utterly confused re. Pricing. I will be a brand new Ableton user and want to buy live 9 and push, but right now Ableton can't give me a straight answer as to which way is cheapest.

I see 2 routes...

1. Buy live 8 now on sale with free upgrade to 9 then buy push as standalone. Push price not out yet Si I can't forecast how much this would be

2. Buy live 9 and push together as new user, I want suite so seems to fine in at 999 euro.

Any other routes or thoughts on cheapest way to purchase 9 and push really appreciated

Many thanks

Aaron

My problem with this route is that you will almost certainly end up stung when comparing with online/shop prices (usually discounted down a notch).

When I was making the big step up in music gear/software back in October I went with Live 8 + the upgrade and decided to see what Push would cost me when something more concrete was announced. It's a tougher choice to make now to be honest but I think getting Live 8 Suite now and buying Push on its on at a later date will be cheaper than 999 euros.

Definitely. Especially when music retailers often have 20% off coupons or $xx off of $xxx deals. Fr instance, I just bought live 8 suite boxed upgrade with free Live 9 suite for less than Abelton's download live 8 suite price. if Push is around $599 in stores, you'll be able to score it for $479.

Does anyone know any European dealers offering discounts like these?

Not like for like but at the moment in the UK I bagged Live 8 Suite (boxed) for something like £380 while Ableton were selling the download for about £100 more (if I remember correctly). European retailers will be similarily priced I'd imagine - a quick Google search will sort you out.

As for Push, I doubt there will be much in the way of discount for a while in the UK at least but retailers will probably be a few £ cheaper than Ableton.

Push is what I am looking to get. Ableton confirmed there would be no Push deals for Live owners unless they do the Upgrade + Push offer.

Even still, I think you should do the sums and double check what Live 8 Suite (boxed) now + Push later would cost vs Abletons Live 8 Suite (download) + Push preorder. At a guess, Id think it would come in at about 900 euros or so but I havent taken a look.

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question

If I want the actual box with like actual CDs in - can I order that from the web shop? Does that affect pricing? If I buy the CDs from my local music store in Cape Town, does the upgrade path price on the web apply to me?

Really? Why? All you have to do is login to Ableton's site, go to "Shop" and there are links to see what your specific pricing options are based on what licenses you own.

What's weird to me is that they're all like "SPECIAL INTRODUCTORY $100 DISCOUNT on LIVE 9 and $150 DISCOUNT ON LIVE 9 AND PUSH!" and I've been eyeballing the upgrade page since announcement time, and Live 9 + Push is still $748. Live 9 is $199, but that's only down from $250 or so that it used to be.

What's the deal, man?

EDIT: and yes, I'm signed in to my account.

I think they are basing that on saying that the normal upgrade price for suite8+m4l is 300$, so you save 100$ on that down to 200$. Then you save another 50$ on push, which is 600$ so down to 550$. So that puts you at 750$ for the pair

Im not sure if they changed their original price for upgrade from 250 to 300, but if you look at the page it has 300$ crossed out. Maybe its just me but 300$ for someone who already owns m4l as an upgrade price seems like a huge slap in the face

So I just bought a used copy of Live 8 Suite (boxed) on eBay last month for $256 and my upgrade path to Live 9 Suite costs $249. Ableton Live 8 Suite is selling for $524 with free upgrade to Live 9 Suite.

So that means:
Live 8 Suite (used) $256 + Live 9 Suite upgrade (release special) $249 = $505

Live 8 Suite (new) $524 + FREE upgrade to Live 9 Suite = $524

$524
-505
$19 savings

So buying a used copy of Live 8 Suite offers little to no savings, unless you can find it for like $100? I must say that in comparison to recent Propellerhead upgrade paths, this upgrade pricing is HUGELY disappointing, unless I'm missing something here. Would I have been better off waiting for Live 9 Suite to come out and using a coupon at a retailer to get a better price?

My only complaint remains the same, no other DAW I own is as expensive to upgrade as Live Suite is.
This is the inherent problem with relying on third party manufacturers for add ons. AAS, Cycling 74, Cytomic, whoever makes Amp, all those people will want a cut at some point when they recode for OS changes etc.
