Okay, Do you have "Maschine MK2 Virtual Input/Output" or just the regular "Maschine MK2 Input/Output" selected in the controller drop downs?

I have the normal 'Maschine MK2 Input/Output' selected, not the virtual ones.

I did all the proper steps to set it up. I was very meticulous in following each step with precision. I even watch a few YouTube videos of people setting this up.

* Placed the proper template files for the Controller Editor
* Placed the proper template files inside of the Ableton App
* Confirmed that those were the only 2 Maschine MIDI templates in Ableton Live
* In the Controller Editor, Appended the new Live 9 template
* Confirmed transport control and velocity curve settings
* In Ableton preferences I set the control surface to be Maschine mk2, MIDI in and out too.

Note: when configuring Ableton, I didn't have the Maschine MK2 Virtual Port option in the MIDI In and MIDI Out dropdowns. Just Maschine MK2 MIDI. (is this the problem?)

Any ideas? How do I get um back?

The MIDI (Remote) control function is separate from the MIDI pad functions..
In my case (Win7x64) the installer was not installing the Maschine drivers into the correct location....

C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Maschine Controller MK2 Driver

The last folder didn't even exist. After a great deal of wasted time, frustration, and effort with retarded NI t/s, I finally figured out where they were supposed to be (NI wouldn't - or couldn't - tell me), and got a friend with a working system to send the folder to me; I copied it into the correct location, and Voila! it worked, after pointing Device Manager to the correct (new) location.

NI has a great product; I really love Maschine, but t/s doesn't know their bejeezus, and if they do, they can't tell you. The danger is that you waste a lot of time, and they give possibly dangerous advice (like reinstalling your OS.. DOM'T BELIEVE THEM IF THEY TELL YOU THAT!)..

And their controller driver installation is really screwed up for a lot of people (although a lot of people don't need it)..... So there is a point of diminishing returns in trying to troubleshoot this issue, but in most cases, it is NI, not your computer.

Check the NI forums for further info about drivers not installing....

I just got a reply back from NI tech support. They suggested uninstalling the Maschine USB Driver. Downloading the latest and reinstalling. It worked! I have my virtual ports back, and Maschine is successfully controlling Ableton Live 9.

I'm having a similar issue. Everything (latest drivers for Live 9) are installed but I don't see any virtual ports. I have Maschine Mk2 ports, but no Maschine Virtual Ports. On the Mk2 itself, I do have a Ableton Live template that is accessible, but none of the pads nor knobs work with the Live 9

Quick fix... download the NI Uninstaller utility. Use it to remove the Maschine MK2 drivers. Download and reinstall the latest 2.5.2 drivers. All good!!!
