Yeah, I would say it's pretty damn plausible.
There is nothing physicaly impossible about it, the actors involved would be absolutely willing and capable to further their causes with these means and there is a very plausible winning end game that these actors would want (we are watching it unfold right now btw

The only thing that is remotely implausible, is that they managed to keep it secret enough till now.
But then they also have the media in their pockets and anyone spreading the truth would be labeled a conspiracy theorist anyway.
Don't confuse yourself not wanting it to be so and repeatedly having
beaten that dead horse when confirming your own bias, with it being in fact implausible.
Neither you or me have enough information to be sure.
But plausibility has nothing to do with it.
