(OT) sad sad sad
You have to admit though that all the cars, factories, and clearcutting must have some impact. These fools that call themselves leaders deny there is any impact. That's fucking retarded.Komplex wrote:I'm not going to get into politics and all that but to this day, I still don't know how anyone can exactly measure a global temperature increase of 1degF.
We really only have the last 200 years or so worth of proper scientific measurements to base this stuff on. The Earth has been active for billions of years and I'm sure it doesn't always remain at the same temperature range. Like anything in the universe, events would cycle.
I'll be the last person to say humans have figured climate change out, but they surely don't give a fuck if it is getting warmer because of human activities. They want to destroy the word so 'Jesus' will come back. No joke.
True. For alot of sciences, like geology, climatology etc. Glaciers are know as a sort of early warning situation.mike holiday wrote:around my house you can watch glaciers climb hills
they melt fast
no joke
Fact is that they are melting, FAST. Some of them have lost as much as 80% of their volume! This happens because higher terrain, like mountains, are more sensitive to temperature change. In Swiss, its not 1 degree, its 2!
Plus, because of heavy industries, there's more dust in the air then there used to be. Snow reflects 80% sunlight, Ice only 60% and Ice covered with dust absorbs it all.
Short term effect is that the valleys are very furtile.
Long term effect is that when the glaciers are gone, so is the water.
This means all rivers that get their water from mountains, will dry up.
The Nile
The Amazone River
The Ganges
within 50 years, we'll have wars over water.
I don't care if its human cause or not, it's happening. We need deal with it.
S'true, a relative of mine in the diplomatic service (lots of time in the middle east, he's not working at the moment because he's a "peace" worker) told me that the Neo-Con's close to Bush believe that Israel must be restored to it's biblical borders before Armageddon can happen and that the whole Iraq/Iran thing was part of that plan.braj wrote:They want to destroy the word so 'Jesus' will come back. Scarey Shit

That's funny, (or not), my favorite self made conspiracy theory has the US using the War on Drugs to invade Canada (specifically BC) in order to secure our water resources within the next 50 years.SimonPHC wrote:within 50 years, we'll have wars over water.

They already got our power.

Guess we'll see
15" TiBook 1.5 GHz 1Gig RAM, MOTU Traveller, Live 5, Reaktor 5, Alesis Micron, Yamaha EX-5, UC-33e, BCR2000, Lexicon MPX-1, Orbit, Event 20/20's
the US neednt take from Canada, they are quite willing to give us anything we want.
The Drug War is much more about cornering a market, in the name of Global safety...
Tell the world that Weapons move through the same markets, and you can take over any business. But now they have the monopoly, so they can set the price as high as they want. Only in that world, would pot cost more than gold.

They can research temperature changes in the Polar caps and shit can't they...I'm not going to get into politics and all that but to this day, I still don't know how anyone can exactly measure a global temperature increase of 1degF.

On one hand I'm like: mankind's destined to destroy itself anyway, so why even bother. As long as there's personal gain to be had by polluting, we are not going to stop untill it's much too late... If we don't kill eachother beforehand that is.
One the other hand, with all our technological advancements (if you would call it that) we might be able to still save the world and mankind. It would take a thorough change in mentalities though and judging the human character, I'm not too optimistic.
Windows XP, P4 2.4Ghz, 2 x 250Gb 7200rpm, 1Gb DDRAM, M-Audio Delta 66 + Omni i/o
I HATE to agree with you on this but sadly I dolouZ wrote: They can research temperature changes in the Polar caps and shit can't they...

4 US senitors were up here this last week (alaska) checking out the effects of global warrning and were all shocked that the evidence was so transparent.
(republocrats and demicains)> The 4 member group aggreed without a doubt that something needs to be done....the drawback the guy that handels all this in the Senit
(ted stevens)is also an alaskan and he is the FIrst and loudest voice saying that the science is not evidence, and he is adimately opposed against regulateing green house gasses. Of course this guy is stinking rich from developement and investments..
its funny how they say "special interst" groups are the ones who want the regulations when really it's the fat hand in the piggy bank that is against any regulations..

I had a strong kind of experience the other day, while discussing whith my mates at work. They were talking about "all the people" who lives on "us" by misusing the social security system, which is fairly strong here in Sweden.trash wrote:chomsky calls it 'ideological warfare'

This is a popular subject. Should we start spying on eachother, telling the authorities that mr X next door does not seem so sick after all, he painted his balcony yesterday but can't work in the paint store..?
Anyway, what I tried to say was:
Who has intererested us for this subject?
Discussing this subject, what is the subject we are drawn away from?
My answer, one of many possible, was: We are discussing this because there are forces benefitting from us not discussing their area of interest. And these may be: Money traders, the transglobal echonomy that influences the working conditions and the mental state etc in almost every society now in conjunction with fearful local politics and media, trying to cover up the whole shit.

Yea, but:
We have to watch ourselves, so that we won't get trapped in "conspiracies".
I mean, we have to be flexible and at every moment be willing to ask us: From whom does this question/perspective/answer come? Who benefits? Who does not?
