I'm not going to get into politics and all that but to this day, I still don't know how anyone can exactly measure a global temperature increase of 1degF.

We really only have the last 200 years or so worth of proper scientific measurements to base this stuff on. The Earth has been active for billions of years and I'm sure it doesn't always remain at the same temperature range. Like anything in the universe, events would cycle.

You have to admit though that all the cars, factories, and clearcutting must have some impact. These fools that call themselves leaders deny there is any impact. That's fucking retarded.

I'll be the last person to say humans have figured climate change out, but they surely don't give a fuck if it is getting warmer because of human activities. They want to destroy the word so 'Jesus' will come back. No joke.

True. For alot of sciences, like geology, climatology etc. Glaciers are know as a sort of early warning situation.

Fact is that they are melting, FAST. Some of them have lost as much as 80% of their volume! This happens because higher terrain, like mountains, are more sensitive to temperature change. In Swiss, its not 1 degree, its 2!
Plus, because of heavy industries, there's more dust in the air then there used to be. Snow reflects 80% sunlight, Ice only 60% and Ice covered with dust absorbs it all.

Short term effect is that the valleys are very furtile.
Long term effect is that when the glaciers are gone, so is the water.
This means all rivers that get their water from mountains, will dry up.

That's funny, (or not), my favorite self made conspiracy theory has the US using the War on Drugs to invade Canada (specifically BC) in order to secure our water resources within the next 50 years.

On one hand I'm like: mankind's destined to destroy itself anyway, so why even bother. As long as there's personal gain to be had by polluting, we are not going to stop untill it's much too late... If we don't kill eachother beforehand that is.

One the other hand, with all our technological advancements (if you would call it that) we might be able to still save the world and mankind. It would take a thorough change in mentalities though and judging the human character, I'm not too optimistic.

4 US senitors were up here this last week (alaska) checking out the effects of global warrning and were all shocked that the evidence was so transparent.

I had a strong kind of experience the other day, while discussing whith my mates at work. They were talking about "all the people" who lives on "us" by misusing the social security system, which is fairly strong here in Sweden.
This is a popular subject. Should we start spying on eachother, telling the authorities that mr X next door does not seem so sick after all, he painted his balcony yesterday but can't work in the paint store..?
Anyway, what I tried to say was:
Who has intererested us for this subject?
Discussing this subject, what is the subject we are drawn away from?
My answer, one of many possible, was: We are discussing this because there are forces benefitting from us not discussing their area of interest. And these may be: Money traders, the transglobal echonomy that influences the working conditions and the mental state etc in almost every society now in conjunction with fearful local politics and media, trying to cover up the whole shit.
