automation support for VST params > current 128 limit.
What are you going on about Tancit? Look, parameter automation is a very basic function... and the fact is, there are automatable vst parameters that Live can't access! The VST spec provides a very SIMPLE means of automating ALL parameters in a host. I happen to be a person that uses Microtonic, Surge, Zeta, and Symptohm! All are wonderful plugins which are flat out LIMITED by Live! Sometimes that means I'll have access to the params for one oscillator, but not the second... or maybe only part of the controls for an envelope... etc. And while wrapping is an option in eXT, it's still a PITA to setup the parameter that will automate. It would be much easier if Live simply got rid of it's totally REDICULOUS 128 parameter limit! I can't even think of a single vst host which supports param automation that has such a stupid limit... it's really that basic.. especially for a program that costs $400.
Besides the fact... this is a feature request thread.. and regardless of your feelings.. this would be a feature that would have NO impact on you.. as you can keep on using chainer since you seem to love it so much.
Once last note... it REALLY sucks when you grab a param.. turn on the record.. start moving it then realize.. hey... it doesn't work... it's not recording any of the automation.. whoah.. hey look see.. it's parameter #129.. crap! joy! joy! yeehaw!
[edit] just one more thing to think about... the functionality must already exist, otherwire Live would never recall VST presets properly in VSTs which have over 128 params.

Please don`t missunderstood my intent...
I totally agree with you, that this limit sucks, just as well as some plugins don`t work in Live such as the Korg Legacy Digital Collection...seems the Abes have the same probs of vst-implementation as Emagic had with Logic 5 on the windows platform...some plugins didn`t work just as well as problems with Waves plugins just as well as the limit of 128 parameters for automation...
Seems as did the Abes buy the old VST-Engine from Emagic...
My posting was meant as a tip, a little workaround for the moment...and for me it works...I have no probs with chainer...nothing buggy, I can use all my VSTi`s in Live and I can automate all the "hidden" parameters...
Till the Abes will be able to implement a fully working VST Engine you`ll always have to use a "host in the host" for some plugins that don`t work...
Trancit

Re: automation support for VST params > current 128 limit.
still looking to be able to have more than 128 so i can access them in push or an ableton remote script. like others mentioned with microtonic you could only potentially map half off the parameters. would be great to have access to everything at once.

Re: automation support for VST params > current 128 limit.
About time Ableton fixed this, embarrassing for a DAW to have this parameter limit these days.
Still 128 VST params only (in November 2021, Live 11)?
Hi all.
Nothing has changed yet, right? Judging by the date of the last entry, this is still the case? Also for Live 11?! Wow. That's a little frustrating, I have to sigh adhoc. Live is such a tremendous tool, but for contemporary, sometimes more complex sound design tasks, that fact is simply obsolete... Does anybody know if they'll ever plan to update this?

Re: automation support for VST params > current 128 limit.
Without the ability to rename parameters and arrange them better for display on controllers (leave a blank gap for instance) having more than 128 is almost pointless. The whole parameter management really needs an overhaul. That is the only thing that will have me look at the next paid update at this point.
Re: automation support for VST params > current 128 limit.
I don't think they will ever change this. It took them only 10 years for some basic feature requests. So you better start learning something else if you want to access more than 128 parameters in your lifetime.
Yes, it's an absurd limitation. These days, I just open another DAW and laugh. Live was special, but not that special to force yourself into these nonsense limitations in the year 2025, where I open Reaper and list 2250 parameters in under a second, run script, filter few, random few, and move on.

Several free VST wrappers on maxforlive.com allow that easily..
