Send Midi CC from Standalone?

Post by popmechanic » Tue Jul 25, 2023 5:37 pm

Has anyone figured out how to send Midi CC data from Standalone? It's implemented as an envelope in Ableton but it's not available on Standalone.

I've tried most of the Max For Live devices that could help but none of them are compatible.

Hope someone has an answer, without Midi CC data it's very difficult to use the Push as a brain for a hardware setup.

I just received my Push and started to add Push control on my m4l devices, so I could do this as well !

Here's a short list of incompatible devices that I've tried:
I'll keep updating this post as I try more.

Happy to report that ControlChange8.5 works great. 8 values per device easily assignable right from the Push. Just tested with Digitakt.

How are you getting this to work? I have the device in both user libraries and I configured the CCs (and set names in the notes field) in desktop Live, but on standalone, I just see "Parameter 1" through "Parameter 8", with params 1-4 at 0 and 5-8 at 64. It doesn't look like any of my CC assignments or m4l device settings are getting transferred to Push.

Clicking on the ControlChange device an additional time should bring up more options at the bottom of the display. iirc the second tab over should have the 8 assignable values. Wish I could be more descriptive, but I’m not with the Push atm.

Following up to say that this device works! My only remaining issue with this workflow as it is now is that none of the controller assignments can be labeled on the Push. (The device allows for renaming of controllers in Desktop Live, but these configurations are not transferred over to Push Standalone when the device or a project is transferred over.)

Would really appreciate something a little more put together by the Ableton team, but in the meantime, this fills the gap!

[live.banks] allows dynamic renaming of parameters if I’m not mistaken. So it might be possible. (Can’t check, on holidays)
