Live by default runs its builtin Max build (which, for L12, is Max 9).
While Max 9 is out for a while, Live 12.1.10 still uses Max 8.6.5 as a built-in version.
You can of course try 9 as an external version.
Thank you -- I'm sure I'm confused even more now, however!
I didn't think that I could designate Max 9 as my external version, because I don't have a license for it. As I understand things, Max 9 isn't the same as M4L.
So I'm concerned that if I select 9 as my external Max editor without having the full license, the version of 9 that I have, and would then be using within Live, will expire in (...I think is it?) 30 days.
If however I CAN, as suggested by [jur] use Live > Pref's > File & Folder Max selector to choose 9 instead, and have it stick because it's running from within Live -- then, sure! I'll try that!
Thank you all for your patience in this. At this point, at least 12.1.5. is behaving in a more stable manner for me, with no crashes so far today. I have another show coming up in a couple of weeks, so I'm more focused on stability over latest version than usual.
But it would be great to get back up to current somehow if I can.
