Spoken like a true Scot!

Seriously though, my Gran and Grampa also say things like - "we're gonna pop down to Safers (Safeway) to get the messages in "...where messages will consist of items like 'flakes' (Corn Flakes) and Tunnocks Teas cakes. These items will go in the 'pantry', and all the goodies (sweets and such like) are kept in an old huge tupperware container. It was always a special moment when the big box of goodies was brought out, still is!

I was actually at the Barras myself a while ago, but not for shopping! I went for a concert and a pint afterwards, there's a few dodgy pubs around there and we went in to one just for fun, the people were cool though!

Your racist rhetoric is by NO means welcome here, and repeatedly, your helpless, offensive articles are rebuked by the people who know better... i.e. Most of us.

Just step off, and take your propagandist bullshit elsewhere.
Do you have anymore comments you would like to express?
One does not 'express comments', comments are made, but the phrase 'Do you have any further comments?' would be better stylistically in this case, as it is a common turn of phrase. Your consistent use of words that are bigger than your brain and/or willy is merely another reason not to take you seriously. Have you considered ending it all?

No wonder Scottish people have such a low opinion of themselves... someone starts a thread about Scotland and we get completely ignored! We're not even important enough to be the most violent developed country on earth! A few French rioters are more important! BAD GRAMMAR IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SCOTLAND!

Jesus I don't know. We invent television, telephones, whisky, pneumatic tyres, Boards Of Canada, Barbara Dickson, oatcakes, Dolly the Sheep and tartan - and yet the fact that we are killing each other faster than anyone else takes second place to grammatical correctness? No wonder we're so self-effacing!

That wasn't a real rant by the way. I'm too self-effacing for that. :)

I'll tell you something about French Riots though - if the rioters were putting as much violence into attacking the police as they are attacking cars then we'd really have something to worry about. Anyone would think the rioters are working for Renault.

Thanks peeedro :)
Finally some appreciation for the guid Scots folk... :) Do you think I could be onto something with the Renault thing? I should be an investigative reporter. HAH! That's another thing we were uniquely good at - JOURNALISM!

Scots are more highly evolved than the rest of the nations on earth... just you wait a couple of thousand years - you'll all be trying to kill your fellow countryman. Well we got there first. Another thing we invented - self-genocide.

Hey peeedro I hope it's peaceful where you are my friend. This might be a good time to lock the door and stay in with your favourite music software until the news turns good...
Bon chance.

You forgot The Proclaimers, Texas and, er, Sidney Devine.

While we're on the subject, here's an old joke: What has 22 legs and no teeth? A: The front row of a Sidney Devine Concert.

Yeah, okay... I'll get my shell-suit top...

Couchboy!
We two are living testament to the fact that not all Scotsmen are trained killers... some of us have no training at all... :)

Hope yourself and the missus are on top form. We need to drink beer sometime. Oh god I'm confirming another Scottish stereotype... let's catch up soon for a mineral water. :) heheheh.

Hi noisetonepause,
Sorry, you're right. Allow me to correct myself. BLOODY ENGLISH LANGUAGE USAGE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE FACT THAT SCOTSMEN ARE KILLING EACH OTHER!!! AAARRRGGHH!!!

Let's draw attention away from my country... let's talk about yours! Are we enjoying a period of relative peace in Denmark? I hope so. Does anyone want to tempt fate and start a thread about how peaceful it is where you are?

Hey couchboy,
Thanks for reminding me! Maybe Sydney Devine goes some way to explaining WHY Scottish people are so violent to each other. My mum used to play "Crying Time" every Sunday morning. Now you know why I'm like this. :(

There's only ever four people in the front row of an SD concert. The other 16 legs belong to their zimmer frames. :)

Ooops. No Sydney fans around I hope...

To my French brothers,
In honour of The Auld Alliance I would like to invite you, on behalf of the Scottish Parliament, to leave behind your troubles and woes and come here to Scotland until peace is restored in your country.

Let's have a party.

Could you bring DJ Cam and Daft Punk with you? And pick up a few bits of French food (sorry no fois gras though :) ). Stick some wine in the bag too. And could you bring Charlotte Gainsbourg with you as well?

Don't bring your car with you though - it's safer in Paris...
