yeah it's a religion.... full of converts to the "think different" marketing.
It makes you feel special, thus you talk about how special you feel all day
on BBS's.
Total stereotyping, generalizing bullshit. I have three macs sitting in this room with me, not a p.c. in site. I choose mac because it is what I have come to prefer. I worked on windows 5 days a week, 25 to 50 hours a week for the last year and a half at the day job I just left and I hated it. I am extremely happy that job is over.
So I am not the "brainwashed convert" as was insinuated in your blanket statement above. My preferences and choices have been developed by my own experience, I do not think my computer is "better", I do not feel special, and I could give two shits what any of the rest of you are using. All that matters is if it works for you.
I have a new 2 ghz dual core G5 with 2 1/2 gigs of ram, and a 23 inch hd apple display. And you know what, its fast, the display kicks ass and all told its a really nice fucking computer that was worth every single penny I spent on it. It handles everything I can throw at it and it earns me a decent amount of money. And it just so happens to look good. And I have a 2 year old powerbook that is also a really nice machine. Its still just a solid as it was the day I bought it and serves me well for gigs, client meetings, and whatever else I need a mobile machine for. And I have a G3 iMac that is going on 5 years old, definitely slow as shit but still in perfect working condition. It is perfect for my wife, who uses it to surf the net, email, and write papers on.
Oh, and yes I have an ipod too. It's great for listening to music or to use as an external hd for transporting media back and forth to school. Yes, the battery thing is a pain in the ass, but at over 3 years old it has seen extensive use, been dropped atleast twice, drenched in the rain, is running the original battery and it still has a four hour battery life. When the battery goes I will pay the $100.00 or whatever it is to put another battery in, or I will get a new one.
So, all of this apple shit I have bought over the last five years, I have had to send one thing out for repair (my powerbook when I first bought it had a bad logic board and I had it back in less than a week) and I have never had to call tech support. I still have
all of it, and not only is it all in good working condition but it all is put to productive use
every day.
I am not bragging and I do not feel "special", I am just comfortable that when I by apple I am buying good quality shit. And I am more comfortable working in the mac os, I simply can not stand windows.
And there is really no need to try and justify why you like windows, because I simply do not care. I have my own preferences based on my experience, I am happy, and I am sticking with what works for me. If you are happy with what you use then I am happy for you and respect your preferences.

Simply put, this is just ill-informed bullshit. Do your own research.

In design offices, the amount of times I've heard the mac "I'm going to
crash now" sound is beyond counting. While on my own PC machines I've
never had any problems, and if an application does crash I can always
recover without a reboot.
Your just full of them dude. What exactly is the "I'm gonna crash now sound"? I'd like to know because I have never heard it. I don't know, maybe I'm young and you are talking about macs from ten years ago. Maybe thats because my macs don't crash? Well, I did have a problem with a sound-card driver making my powerbook crash the winter of 2003.
Sometimes an app crashes, but I don't have to re-boot as a result. Really, I think it is safe to say that the only problems I have had with my machines have been with third party software, sound-card and printer drivers mainly. I earn a living using my computers, so stability is a major issue, but fortunately in my five years of using macs I have not had these problems you write about. But I will tell you this, the performance of photoshop, illustrator and indesign on the XP box at the job I just left was absolutely dismal and completely unacceptable. But whatever.
And really man, the shit you wrote here pretty much puts you on the same level as the mac fan-boys you seem to despise so much. Your just different sides of the same coin. Really, don't get mad, put your ego to the side, seriously look at the shit you wrote and think about it. Exact same fucking thing dude.
Don't take any of this personal yellow, its been a long day for me. Maybe in the future try not to make such sweeping generalizations. Not all mac users are dicks, some of us just prefer macs, simple as that. Shit man, one of my good friends here form the board, suburbanbather uses a dell.
Oh thats right, it stopped working and he bought a powerbook........
(sorry, couldn't resist)
